Is there a bug on contract extensions?
I am trying to offer Harmon Killebrew a contract extension. I have attempted 8 times!!
I originally agreed to his demand of 4yrs/$150k. He said he wanted more, so I increased my offer. At one point, I offered him 4 yrs/$200k per yr. he came back and asked for 4 hrs/$200 k!! The same deal I offered. What the frack?! Out of frustration, I offered him 5 yrs/ $225 k and 4 yrs/$300k and both times he came back with, you guessed it, 4 yrs/$200k. I even tried 'meet his demand' a couple of times. What the frack is happening? Thx Foo |

Yes, at least one bug
Several times I have met a player's demands, only to be given a counter-offer that is exactly the same -- but which also gets turned down. Upping the amount or years does not get me out of this.
I have found no work-around. I console myself with the idea that this bug can be seen not as a bug but as adding a note of realism about dealing with difficult agents. If you find a solution, please let us know. You might have to bid Killebrew adieu, take the fans' wrath at losing him, and then try hiring him as a free agent. |

This happens to me quite a lot. I offered someone 3 yrs/$7.5 million per, he declined saying the pay was too low, and then his demands said 3 yrs/$7.5 million! I eventually changed it to 3 yrs/$8 million and he finally accepted. It was quite annoying.

Contract extension bug?
I've seen a few bugs too.
An FA-eligible veteran wouldn't talk contract all season. In July he requested a contract extension, rejected my first offer with a suggestion (one more year and a little more money please). When I looked for his counter, he was closed to all offers again. Several games later I opened Offer Contract just to check, and there was his counter. The pattern then repeated - either simulating bad faith negotiation or a bug. More certainly a bug - in other transactions I have seen the computer "forget" both my previous offer and the player's original counter and revert to square one. |

So has Sebastian been notified?
I tried to post in the 'bug' discussion, but couldn't.
It sure would be nice to have this fixed. |

Seen this a few times. Most of the time it's because they will get substantially more money in FA or the fact that your team isn't doing very well. Either one will cause this from my experience.

It happened to me through a very weird sequence of events. First, a 1 star guy on my team got $2.3M through arbitration so I cut him with no penalty. Then I don't know how but I stumbled upon him in free agency at 1.5 stars so I figured with my low budget I could use him as a backup and he was looking for a 1 year $1.2M deal so I figured I'd give it to him. Then he got angry I didn't offer him enough cash. I thought it was a fluke so I offered him the same thing and he declined again. Then I did different things like meet demand and he kept asking for 1 year $1.2M and kept declining. So I increased it to $1.5M and he said it was close and we settled on $1.8M.
So yeah, I guess it's a bug. |
