Tired of hearing about Pete Rose

Hey are you guys tired of hearing about Pete Rose?? First off why does he even want to go into the Hall of Fame? Everybody knows he deserves it over 4,000 hits. It isnt like he needs the Hall to prove that he is a Hall of Fame type player. He isnt a Tony Perez (a border line Hall of Famer), he would have been a first ballot hall of famer. Rose will be more recognized if he never goes into the Hall. Rose even goes to the Hall of Fame ceremonies and signs stuff. Im sure Rose will make more money and become more famous for not going in. Also Rose should have never bet on baseball games, especially his own, i dont care if he did bet that his team was going to win (which i doubt). He has not even admitted wrong doing. Last of all he is an *******, i remember someone asking him a question about how could he help his son (Pete Rose Jr) out in his proffesional career, and he saying i gave him my name, what more could he want?

Yeah, I could care less if I never hear anything more about Pete Rose. He certainly is one of the greatest players ever, no doubt, and he is the all-time hit king. But he agreed to a lifetime ban so I think that should be the end of it.

He agreed to a ban from MLB, the HoF is not just MLB, it's PRO BASEBALL (hence, the Negro Leagues being included).

Let him in.

well what i dont understand is Rose was banned for
gambling? right?
So why does he get a lifetime ban but yet Denny McLain
was involved in gambling and was admitted back into
the league.

Rose bet on his own team. Big difference. Gambling on baseball is a suspension. Gambling on a game involving your own team is a permanent ban.

Didnt Pete Rose coach some in the Major Leagues? I could be wrong, I dont think i would have been old enough to remember.

If he hadn't managed the Reds, his MLB totals would have been a lot less impressive.

Edit: Just took a brief glance at Petey's totals at BBREF and the last 5 years of his career, adding about 700 hits to his total, he was a pretty horrible player. Dunno what the Phillies were thinking putting him in the lineup. I have a pretty good idea why Rose penciled himself in most nights.

By being player-manager, Rose easily extended his career one year -- maybe 2. Who knows if he would have become all time hit king if he hadn't.

It would seem doubtful that Rose would allow his suspension to go unchallenged if the evidence were flimsy. From an article I read at Baseball Prospectus, there seems to be compelling evidence that Rose gambled on Reds games.

Indeed. The most vocal critic of the Dowd report has been, ironicaly enough, Bill James. I think the BP article pretty well shredded his arguments.

The whole story is shady, nothing concrete has came out about it yet. I wouldnt be surprised if he did bet against the Reds. Hey while we are letting guys back into the Hall, lets give Joe Jackson another shot? lol
