Good Ideas for Fantasy Keeper League
My friend and I are in the process of starting up a keeper league for the season. My goal with the whole thing is to hopefully create a league that isn't overly complicated that it becomes tedious to manage, but at the same time is intricate enough to be competitive and fun. With that said here are some ideas that I have thus far.
10-12 teams in the league standard positions and fantasy rules (toying with the idea of creating a 25 man roster though) head to head scoring Can pick up to 4 players on your team to keep each season however an additional 5th keeper pick can be used on a player as long as he is under the age of 24/25 (haven't decided on the exact age yet, I figure this way it puts incentive on developing talent) Last place team drafts first the following season That's what I have so far but please feel free to let me know what you think. Personally I think 4 is a little on the low end as I would like to see 5-6. I do like the young player keeper rule we have going and may even think of extending that for two players. so you can keep 4-5 and an additional 2 players under the age of 24/25. I also think it would be cool to try to mirror the fantasy roster slots close to the real life ex.) 5 SP and 6RP etc. |

I'm in a league that will be entering its eighth season as a H2H keeper league. We vote at the beginning of each season as to how many we'll keep at the end, the number is usually 5 or 7.
We allow the trading of draft picks, which really spices things up at the year end meeting when teams are trying to collect the best talent to keep over the winter. We have a three man minor league roster that carryover from year to year. It is always posted on the front page of the league website (we use Yahoo!) and is easily updated by the commissioner. I've never heard of allowing a team to keep an extra player as long as that player is under a certain age. Then again, I think our minor league rosters are similar in a way. (A player qualifies as a minor leaguer if they're under 150 ABs or IPs in our league.) |
