Custom Random Debut - Can I do This?
I have a fictional league started on 11, I want to start a game with 16 real MLB teams and 16 teams from my edited txt's. Convert it to 12 then to 13. Can I and how do I create a random debut league using my modded db?
Do I create as a 2009 historical league or can I create it as a custom game starting in 2011? |

Please restate your question. I do not follow this line of inquiry at all so I can't help you out.

Sorry. I was able to do what I wanted. I created a custom game on 11. import historical rookies. converted all the way to 13. Use random players, deleted all fictional players and then simmed up to March 1st were I set up the draft.for 40 rounds. But all players are the age that they were either drafted or debuted and my draft class is terrible, but I can deal with that.

Random debut does not work properly or at all with any game mode other than historical. It's intended only for historical mode games. If you try using it with any other mode, you're going to have problems sooner or later.
You can always create a historical league and then 'fictionalize' it by changing all the team locations, nicknames, etc. |

How can I limit the number of players in the draft pool of a historical random debut sim? I am trying to have one begin in the dead ball era, but it creates a superstar league of 700 players (more than twice as many as actual in 1903). Not only that, but you end up with numerous stars in the twilight of their careers.
As I've mentioned elsewhere, I was able to create a fictional league and switch it over to historical with a 400 player inaugural draft. But I'm concerned about the problems I'll have sooner or later. |

You should not be getting that many players in your random debut league. Did you set the year as 1903 from the very start of the game creation wizard? If you change the starting date later in the process, then you can cause a number of problems.
In all my usage of the random historical debut feature, which has started in 1901, I haven't seen player pools as large as what you're experiencing. But maybe I'm missing something. |

I thought I set 1903 (or 1901) from the start.
Just set up another one, this time using strict historical template (1903 entered right up front), and still I have 704 players in the inaugural draft. This one doesn't have too many aged stars, so I may give it a spin. It does have a 51 year old rookie! (Jim O'Rourke). |
