Multiple Opinions on Players

It would be very useful if we had more than one scout, but also i'd like us to have the ability to get scouting & Development reports from all staff member at a particular level. So if you have a player at AA, you can only ask your scouting staff, and AA coaches about how this player is developing, and how they rate him. This will help with a "real feel" development system, and give OOTP more immersion. Perhaps a certain amount of playing time at each level would be required for an initial report, and from there, the reports of each staff member become dynamic based on opinion, strategy, philosophy, and player performance.

I'd like multiple opinions on my minor leaguers. I play with the complete scouting on and the complete coaching system on too, with scouting accuracy low. I like the fog that this presents, but it would be fun to have several opinions to consider within this framework. I would enjoy seeing recommendations and commentary from all of the following:

scouting director
director of player development
manager of statistical analysis
minor league managers
Multiple Baseball America lists -- top prospects, top players in each league, top amateur players, etc. (No expectation from me on these being in agreement with each other. )
etc.

Basically, I like all of the information being presented to me to be somewhat ambiguous. And I like the immersion that would come from having multiple perspectives on this ambiguity.

I, for one, prefer having a single scouting director for an organization as the streamlined scouting setup has made the game better for me as compared to the multiple-scout system in v2007.

If the scouting setup is expanded and coaches get a scouting report functionality, I really hope that the design of the system retains the single-report aggregate view that the Scouting Director currently provides rather than requiring the user to sift through multiple scouting reports to get a handle on any given player.

Basically, the multiple opinions outside of the Scouting Director should be an added/optional feature for those players who like to build a high level of "fog of war" into their game. For me, a simplified scouting system beats the noise that multiple views offer.

FWIW I liked the multiple scouts of 2006-07. The only trouble was it was such a pain to schedule them for the season as each scout took differing amounts of time to complete the same task. If the scheduling was simplified I would like to see it return.

Perhaps to expand on Qwerty75's idea the scouting director would have his own view and also present a view of the average of all ratings from the scouting department(including his)?

I am also fine with scouting "as-is" with tweaks and modifications coming in each new version. So for me this would be a low priority, but certainly wouldn't argue against it nor quibble with those that want it asap.

I am not just talking about scouting here, but each staff member should also be able to give development reports.

I was a fan of the multiple scouts, but PSU's idea would work as well. I don't like to turn up the accuracy of OSA as I find that makes it too easy, but if you are willing to pay to have a few good scouts and use their opinions in conjunction that has a nice risk/reward feel to it.

If PSU's idea were to be implemented, it may add to your decision making on who you hire, which I like as well. For example. Say you have a hitting coach that is rated as "excellent" but his scouting is almost non-existant, but then there is another hitting coach who is rated "very good" but also has a "good" rating in scouting.... who do you hire?

it would be nice if in addition to the scouting director, he would have multiple scouts that report to him. those scouts would increase the accuracy of your scouting reports you receive from your SD. you could hire as many scouts as you want, and assign them to different parts of the leagues/country/world/etc. so, for example, you could hire a scout and send him to brazil. he only scouts brazil (until you reassign him, or his contract runs out, or you fire him.) instead of the old way where you had a scout, and had to send him to someplace and he sends a report a few days later, rinse, repeat. these scouts would send their information to the SD and you would get 1 report from the SD.

i guess it would really depend on how your hitting coach scouting ratings were used. i would hope that they would not be directly available (you wouldnt get a report from your hitting coach on another team, or some player in such and such country) but perhaps more along the lines of, he tells you player X is garbage, and needs to be sent back down to work on his swing. more it would be used in conjunction with his teaching skills and recognizing the ability of the players in his immediate interactions with, in the scope of his role on the team (he wouldnt be commenting on pitchers.)

Agreed.. please don't go back to that horrible system in v2007 or as usual, make it optional.
