boxing rules question

I need help with this as soon as possible.

In the 11th round of a 10-round bout, a fighter slips, falls through the ropes and can't continue. does he automatically lose or does it go to the scorecards?

Thanks for any help.

I think it is difficult but not tricky. The only other two options make no sense, a no decision or an automatic win. So I figure it has to be one of the other two.

He meant this part:

"In the 11th round of a 10-round bout"

Assuming you meant the first round he would lose by TKO.

Sorry. I meant the 11th round of a 12-round bout. I apologize for the error.

Doesn't he lose by TKO?

Let me make one thing clear about my post. I am unsure of the answer and needed to find out. I am not trying to quiz the boxing fans here.

Didn't this happen in the Paul Williams - Kermit Cintron fight and the fight went to the scorecards? I think in the USA different states have different rules though.

of course it would all depend on where they were fighting, but generally, i would think if fighter #1 just slipped and fell through the ropes and couldnt continue, it would be a tko victory for fighter #2 because #1 couldnt continue due to his own doing. but, if fighter #2 had a part in the slip and fall out of the ring, then, depending on the legality of fighter #2's actions, it maybe a DQ for fighter #1 or go to scorecards.

from your example, it sounds like fighter #1 just slipped and fell out of the ring...with NO causing action done by fighter #2...and could not continue. in most cases, i think fighter #2 wins by tko.

i could be waaay off, of course, for i am just providing a hypothesis.

Yes the other fighter had nothing to do with the fighter going through the ropes.

Your question is a TKO by definition, though incompetent refereeing would be sure to screw it up at least half the time.

I may be confused here, but if fighter A falls out on his own, it's a tko. Used tb be if fighter B knocks fighter A through the ropes, figbter A has a count of twenty to climb back in.

Yeah, if a fighter slips and goes thru the ropes and can't continue (and it's not the result of any contact from his opponent), it's a TKO loss regardless of which round it occurs.

It should be like this but then again boxing rules have changed so much since before and I did not really follow up with all the latest rules. But yes this would be a logical decision...

Now how about if a stray bird dropped a rock on the opponents head and he was unable to continue..
