Starting with 2011 Rosters?

Hello everyone, I'm new to the game, I've just purchased the Mac App Store version.

When I try to start a new game I select "New major league game", but every time the game creates fictional teams and fictional players. I'm not able to start a game with real 2011 rosters. I just changed some preferences before trying to start a game but did nothing else.

I really can't understand what I'm doing wrong.

were you in advanced mode?..when I click new major league game it seems to load up without an option to change settings, if you create it in advanced it will load up random rosters. from advanced you can only used 1900-2010 rosters.

you can also try to load a quick start game and select majors.quick it should be the same as loading a new major league game....let the game load then adjust the settings.

Thanks Mortimer for your reply. I'll try the Quick Game thing, but I can't understand what you mean with ADVANCED. I just start the game and try to create a Major League game, I don't see any ADVANCED option.

There's something wrong here... even when I start a Quick Game selecting Majors I get fictional teams and fictional players.

Somebody can help?

I tried one more thing. I completely deleted the folder in Application Support named "Out Of the Park Development". The game restarted as if it was the first time. Tried to start a Major League game but no luck, still every thing is fictional.

As soon as I type a name for a game the game starts copying folders and creating logos from scratch, as if I started a custom league.

I'm feeling a bit disappointed now. I'm wondering if the Mac App Store version has some glitches. My version is 12.1.12.

that sounds about right, it will load the rosters create the world...and the logos will be randomly generated as they do not have the rights to them.

The whole load up process should look pretty much the same as a fictional league but when it is done you should see real players with real names and such.

Ops, I didn't look at player names! I only read team names and saw that they were all fictional! Player names are indeed correct. Can you confirm that team names are fictional due to rights issues?

the team names should be correct just not the logos. you can find a lot of the logo packs in the mods section though.

if the team names are off you either have your world file bugged or some how chose to randomize team names or cities...you can do that at creation easily. but the game at default should give you all 30 mlb teams with all minor leagues, and all the current players as of at least opening day...only the logos should be a little off though the colors are usually close.

Player names are ok but team names are off. So I definitely have a problem here after all...

humm you do not have iootp11 do you? just noticed you said mac app store and I thought the mac version of ootp12.

If you are using iootp I would try posting on there forums iOOTP Baseball 2011 - OOTP Developments Forums because I have no idea how it works.

if using ootp12 try reinstalling might fix the issues, and patching if you have not.

I have OOTP 12 for Mac and I'm afraid I'll have to write support or wait for a patch from Mac App Store to upgrade. Maybe the fact I'm in Italy the game has right problems even for team names.

Please, if anyone has bought the game from the Mac App Store, can you confirm that starting a MLB game you have correct team names? My version is 12.1.12 and I cannot upgrade through the installer posted in the forums, because the license is embedded in the file. I must wait for the Mac App Store to have the new version I'm afraid. I'm also waiting for an answer from support.

Still waiting an answer from support. In the meantime I edited ALL the team nicknames to the real ones, starting from MLB to the Rookie Leagues and saved the World template. At this point I'm ready to go.

During the game in the OOTP menue you can find an entry called "Add Ons Central..." which leads to a list of add ons.

But I don't know if that works for Mac too or just for PC...

I did that and changed all the logos, but names remained fictional. Had to edit everything by hand, now I'm ok.

For accurate logos Go to add on's central download the all in one mod and you will have accurate uniforms & logos & facegens 9forgot is this has photos also. you will still have to download stadiums.

For your info and anyone else reading here, the team names have to be fictional for the mac app store version. It's Apple's requirement. Also, any patches to the game have to be gotten from them and them only. The one's posted here will not work!!! Once a patch is available here, it takes about a week or more for Apple to get it through their approval process and posted. Hope this helps clear some things up.

I have both 11 and 12 and 11 has the correct team names for the MLB, 12 does not. Both were purchased from the Apple App Store. Is there a mod that changes the names of the teams or can that be done in the teams.dat file? I dread trying to change all the minors.

I finally did a review of the game on the app store stating my disappointment in what Apple did to the game. May not help but I fell a lot better.
