Post Any one else do this?

And if so, do you enjoy it as much as I do?

I make myself as a scout(GM), set up as "Likes a Challenge". Then what ever team signs "me" I take over. As "I" am signed by other teams over years, I see what I can do in that limited time I am there....cheesey, but fun.

I've heard of a lot ofpeople creating themselves as a prospect, but never a scout. Cool idea.

I actually think this is an interesting idea. I was doing the same thing with my league, but it was more arbitrary, giving myself limited amounts of time to turn a team around.

I understand that Championship Manager works in a similar way-- you can be fired from your role as GM if certain goals aren't met based on the teams' expectations. This to me seems like a good way to keep the game challenging...

I think it's a great idea too... what you are in effect doing is similar in design to many soccer sims whereby you sign a contract and live and die with the team. In soccer sims, you are hired and even fired if you do not meet expectations, not just your league position but financial stability as well. This type of career option is something I've mentioned before (perhaps to some ad nauseum) that I would like to see incorporated in the game someday. Your suggestion however will do as a stopgap. Thanks, I'm going to start a new league and try it out!

As one of the few americans who plays Championship Manager (Go Lincoln City!!!), I find myself playing OOTP, and aganozing over wanting to play Champ Man as well. I switch off at season ends between the two.

If anyone likes soccer in the slightest, you'll LOVE Championship Manager. Probably the most detailed, immersive sports sim ever.

I think you would be pleasantly suprised at how many Americans play Championship Manager. Besides that game I also indulge in FA Premier League Manager and SAAP. Each offers a different perspective on a football sim. Since my time is limited, I usually play a complete season of one, then go over to the next game for a season. Right now though OOTP and Freedom Force have my attention, with an occassional game of Baseball for Windows.

I've only seen it available mail-order. Chips & Bits currently has it for $37.95, but it can probably be found cheaper.

Incidently, how is Freedom Force? Looks tres cool.

This is a great idea, and would definitely increase the challenge of the game.

Yeah this seems to be a great idea and would be fun. But say you get a team like umm, tampa and you get signed to a 5 yr deal, well 1st two yrs your still at the bottom, yr 3 you have moved to the middle of the pack yr 4 your in the playoffs and yr 5 you have a team you think can win the series but just falls short. Well your contract is up and someone else signs you, woulnd t you want to stay with that team? a lot of scouts could get signed to 3 yr deals and then you could be gone...but im going to try it...just seeing what you would do in those spots...gues you could turn down a team if you like...but i dunno too much!

Yeah, Tank Girl does tip the Cheese-o-meter off the charts.
