Just read on ESPN.com that he was traded to the Marlins for prospects. Does he have to clear waivers first?

Good, now only 3,000 people a game have to watch his antics.

He was entertaining and will be missed. Ditka is a God in Chicago for winning a Superbowl. Zen Master has 6 rings here. Until someone takes the Cubs to the promised land, Ozzie will be the best baseball mgr of the last 50 yrs in Chicago.

Meh. It's been 1 great season (2005), 1 good season (2008), 1 what-else-did-you-expect season (2004), and 5 disappointing-at-best seasons.

Very true. The highs were very great, but he made the lows all the more unbearable.

Out of all teams, I'm glad it's the Marlins he's going to.
It would be nice if he could turn that team around for awhile. |

yes the highs were great, but i believe without him even what you call a bad season would have been worse. We were always competitive with him minus 2 seasons. Even this year we were competitive until the last 3 weeks. Last year Ozzie tried his rotating DH idea and it did not succeed. This year Kenny tried Adam Dunn and failed miserably. There is not a doubt in my mind that had Dunn had even half of his normal success we would have made it to October this year. Had he had the season I had predicted him to have we would have been contenders for Ozzie's 2nd ring. Ozzie got a lot out of his players. They have been perennially one of the worst defensive teams, yet are still always in the think of the race. While I don't believe Ozzie was entitled to more money, and it's a managers job to manage with job unsecurity, I do believe he should have stayed and finished next year and would have been rewarded properly had they won the division in 2012. Will be interesting to see what happens with Buehrle and to see if Rios and Dunn can rebound. Ozzie's leaving has to do more with Kenny fielding a bad team more then Ozzie mismanaging it.

Did I specifically say anything about racism or homophobia? You obviously have those things on your mind a lot if that's all you've ever noticed about him. You made your point earlier in the thread that you don't like the man. That's fine, that's your prerogative, but don't start making assumptions about me because I happen to find him entertaining and colourful.. Last edited by Bluenoser; 09-27-2011 at 08:28 PM. |

The team Kenny put together, by your own admission, should have won the division. The fact that Dunn and Rios underperformed horribly isn't Kenny's fault. The fact that Ozzie kept trotting out two massive black holes - usually in the heart of the lineup, often back-to-back - was Ozzie's fault. The man didn't really seem to care this year.

Yeah, I am glad to see him go. Looking forward to White Sox baseball that isn't in the Land of Oz! His ego was out of control and such a distraction. I wish him well, but I am happy with the change. Also, very glad that it looks like everyone from the staff will be gone except for Cooper and Baines. Finally, goodbye Greg Walker!

Didn't hear that Baines was staying on, but as my all time fav player I am glad. And I am also glad to see Walker gone. Comcast Sports Net was reporting that some of the candidates to take over are Buddy Bell (please no) Sandy Alomar Jr. (I would like this choice), Dave Martinez (I like him) and the king of all managers Tony Larussa (PLLLLLLLLEEEEAASSSEE) Since TLR is my all time fav mgr I would love to see him and he is the only 1 of these guys that could make me say Ozzie who. Taking over for Ozzie will be challenge. Obviously if for some odd reason they have a winning next yr and make the playoffs before Ozzie does it will endure him quicker to Sox fans. Possibly not having Buehrle in the rotation is gonna hurt the Sox then theres the overpaid underachiving Dunn, Rios & Beckham (I know not overpaid yet)
