My 1975 Reds Fold like a cheap tent
I persevered through a 162 game schedule with the 75 Reds. They collapsed down the stretch losing 16 of 18 at one point and limped into the playoffs by losing the final 3 games at home to the Padres. They barely beat the Mets in the playoffs but got whipped by the A's in the World Series, 4-1. The one game they won was a miracle and they generally looked terrible. Here are the post season batting averages: Pete Rose .176, Johnny Bench .211, George Foster .171, Dan Driessen .143, Cesar Geronimo .133, Dave Concepcion .138, and Ken Griffey .216. The only two guys who hit over .250 were Perez and Morgan.
Offensively it was a post season disaster and a huge let-down.
Once they collapsed the final month of the season they were never able to turn it back on. They won 102 games but only beat out the Dodgers because the Dodges also collapsed down the stretch.
