Developing Minor Leaguers

I am a Single A affiliate manager for the Cincy Reds (not major league GM).

I have a few questions on some basic development questions.

1. I'm about 30 games into the first season. When should I start to see improvement?

2. Does having a quality hitting/pitching coach improve players quicker? Is fair/average ratings ok enough at least for Single A?

3. Are there other factors that might play a role? Maybe the fact that my scout "favors tools" , therefore my players being more of a risk?

Thx

Just realized that I can't fire/hire someone as minor league manager.

So as long as I give the players with the highest ceiling lots of playing time, there's not much else to do? Besides from the regular issues of morale, being rested, etc.

Bump for a little question. I saw somewhere that there is a setting to increase development/aging speed. What page is that located in?

It's under the global settings, if you select "game setup" from the OOTP menu then I think it's the second tab from the left that that one is under. It's on the top left of the page when you're on the right one.

Ok thanks.

On a side note, I would like create a custom game using real players and the MLB in the current season (not historical). Not sure how though.

The reason I don't just use the "new major league game" button, is because I want to start the season unemployed, while still managing before opening day. Unless there is a way to start the "new major league game" with a different start date, so I have a chance to get a job before the current season.

How would I go about doing this?
Feel free to ask me any questions. I'm sure I'm not easy to understand right now

I'm not sure there is. Both the major league quickstart and the new major league game options start the day before opening day, in neither case can you change the start date backwards. The only way I can think of would be to start the major league as normal, and adjust the season start date (and all other things like draft, roster expansion, trade deadline etc) forward a couple of months, then use that time to look for a job. Then for season 2 you would need to change all the dates back to the ML standard.
