questions about iootp versus ootp??

I have a couple of questions about the computer version as compared to the iootp. Does the computer version feature photos of the players on the field?? Does the computer version allow you to create your own league of, say, 6 real historical teams in a small league and the ability to create a schedule for that league?? Does the computer version allow you to simply play without the free agents etc...?
thank you.

1. Yes - if you download a photo mod through Add-Ons Central (within OOTP)
2. Yes - not too complicated a process
3. Yes - there's an option (on/off) for just about everything!

The PC version allows for a lot of customization. So, yes, it can do all of the things you mentioned above and a whole lot more.

Yes to all of the above. The "computer version" offers so many custom options, setups, etc... Excellent product - been playing it since v.4

I appreciate the replies. On the photo option....is that an extra fee?? Do the photo's appear on the field during play?? The ad I saw did not have any photos on the playing field by the names.

No extra charge. See this screenshot for a typical layout: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/out-.../ootp12/s5.jpg'

Because of copyright issues, OOTP can't use real logos or pictures in their advertising. The concept is the same, however. Instead of fictional pics, you'll see historical pics. (The source of the historical pics is a third-party website, so there are no legal ramifications for OOTP.)

But the online user can get mods that will install actual pictures of current and past major leaguers, right?

OOTP has a menu item called Add-Ons Central. Click it and it'll identify a number of mods available to download (including a couple of photo packs). Click download. Click install. That's about it.

BTW, here's a screenshot with historical photos (please excuse the poor resolution, since the forum doesn't allow an attachment larger than 100 KB):

thanks

Thank you so much. Looks great. I bought ootp a couple of years ago but never could figure out how to play a single game. Every time I tried to load the game it asked for my key also. I quickly gave up and considered it money wasted. but now I have learned to play the iootp game I think i could pick up the computer game. I like the addition of the player pics. thanks again.

For newcomers, OOTP does require patience. All the options can be overwhelming at first. I would recommend playing a test league for a while. Just mess around with it, without worrying about the consequences. Also read the manual (OOTP11 -- since the manual has not been updated for OOTP12). Later on, when you feel comfortable, you can start a season "for real." Oh, and feel free to ask Qs on the forum.
