To many guys getting thrown out at home!
Love this game don't get me wrong but there are WAY to many of my guys getting thrown out at home and none from the AI getting thrown out. I play out every single game with the Mariners and about 75% + of the time i try to send a guy home i get thrown out. Now i understand it's going to happen from time to time especially from slower players, but when Ichiro (who has 17 out of 20 speed) and Figgins (who has 16 out of 20 speed) is getting thrown out by guys that have 5 arm or 7 arm 75% of the time that doesn't seem right.
My outfield consists of Ichiro with 19 Arm, Gutierrez with 15 Arm & Saunders with 13 Arm and i have guys scoring on me left and right who have less then 10 speed. I've played 72 games so far and i think I've thrown out 1 guy with Ichiro at home. Is there anyway to change this from happening so often? |

I manage out every game and I'm usually safe at home over 70% of the time. I am playing 11, so maybe there was some sort of change. Maybe you are sending them when the ball is shallow? That's my only guess. There is a modifier for outfield assists, so you could lower that to get the results you desire. 72 games is a decently large sample, so I don't think this could be all fluke

If I ever get the option to send a guy on to home I take it regardless of runner/fielder/location and almost consider it a cheat as they nearly always score in my experience over maybe 5 seasons of playing out every game. I've not actually counted but I would say around 80-85% success.
Playing with all settings/modifiers on default. |

I play out every game (OOTP 12) and my results seem to mirror real life pretty well. The outfielders that nail the runner tend to be the strong-armed ones you'd expect (Ichiro, Bruce, etc.) but even they don't get the runner very often, and then only if the circumstances line up in their favor. Overall it is much better than previous versions where I hardly ever saw players getting thrown out. As it is it is still a rarity and a pleasant surprise when it happens.

I too play out every game and I have stopped sending any runners when the ball is "shallow" regardless of the OF's arm strength or my players speed because they were always getting thrown out. For my guys to advance the ball has to be at least normal and they have to have decent speed or else I'm not sending them, I've learned my lesson far too many times.

I also play out all my games and play stats only.
Got the option to send runner who has good speed against a normal depth fly ball and an outfielder who had a poor arm. Figured great that's a given. He threw it to the cutoff man who then cut down my runner. Live and learn. Greg |
