Can pitchers learn new pitches??

Is this even possible? If yes ..how? If no... hopefully in the future it will be possible.

thanks

It is possible - each player goes through player development/progression through-out the season and they can develop faster or slower than other players. Occasionally, five star prospects turn into duds and one-star nobody's develop into perennial all-stars.

Unfortunately, it is harder to track in iOOTP unless you monitor all of your players from the beginning of the season until the end of the season. Though, most of the development happens in the off-season.

With OOTP12 (and earlier versions) there is a separate link to player development screens, so hopefully Palli will be able to add the feature (hardware restrictions, pending) into iOOTP 11 (in a later patch) or iOOTP12.

Pardon the naive question, Supernovae, but do individual players' ratings change during the season? Sacre bleu! What a game!

I apologize for the late response - I wasn't able to get to my computer sooner and I also wanted to find a good example.

To answer your question, yes, players' individual ratings can change during a season. Though, a majority of changes happen during the off-season, but you will find that they develop slower or faster (positive or negative) based on several factors including player morale and how they are utilized. A top prospect thrown into the majors too soon or too late can impact their development.

I started with the Blue Jays and tried using D. McGowan in my rotation and bullpen, but he crumbled/got hurt and wound up miserable in my minor leagues. He then became a 6M dollar salary cap casualty and a very costly one at that!

I also started a fictional league and found the attached player in my first year player draft. I, unfortunately, wasn't able to get him, but in four months (game time) look at all of his rating increases.

is it just random on what can cause a player to rise or fall. Because I had a 3 star pitcher with 4 star potential that I signed from the free agency. A month into the season he was a half star with half star potential. And I dont know what happened at all. He was playing games and his previous season had decent stats.

Most of the time it is random, but age, player morale, team morale, player performance, how they are utilized, etc can be major factors.

Do you have a screen shot of the player?
