Let's get a fictional league going!
Hey all...I will start by saying I do not have a league to advertise. Rather, I have a call to arms for like-minded individuals willing to put together an excellent long-lasting fictional league where we can create our own histories and records.
I've been looking for such a league in OOTP 12, but there are about 3 leagues advertised in OOOL in total, all of them MLB leagues, and no fictional leagues posted here. I know the game just came out, but I find this weird! I will be up front with saying that I do not necessarily want to be commish of this league. I am unable to offer time committments in terms of website creation/simming, so hopefully we can find somebody who can step up in those areas. So, essentially here's what I'm looking for: 1) Someone with commish experience willing to help with this vision 2) Someone who can sim (possibly the same person as number 1) 3) A dedicated core group of people who want to immerse themselves in a fictional league where the players really come to life. ***Looking for modern day fictional only. Ratings 1-10, No scouts, no coaches. The rest is open for discussion. Email spider_monkey_224@hotmail.com if you fit into any of those and hopefully we can get something going, or perhaps somebody already is planning something like this but it's not posted yet. |

I will add:
If you are someone ready to start an MLB league as a commish, perhaps I could persuade you to go fictional. Shoot me an email or start up a convo this thread, and I can help you see how fictional is better on so many levels. |

I'm slowly working on a back-story to a league I want to get up and running as an online league but it'll take me a couple of weeks to get that up and completed (work in progress at UEBA Baseball )
It'll need 32 managers at the outset - and I would commish but not manage. It's completely fictional.

I clicked the link but didn't see any info about the league on that page yet. Could you give a quick shakedown of how the league will be setup? Specially: Are ratings 1-10? Coaches and Scouts off? Season length? Divisional setups? Era to be played in? This definately sounds like something I could be interested in. |

I've been slowly compiling a league actually. I've already paid for the forums and set them up and everything, I'm just a little bit overwhelmed by the concept of having to deal with 29 other people by myself.
My overall goal is to make it a modern day MLB set (erased history) with completely fictional rosters. 1-20 ratings, star ratings, 1-10 other ratings. Coaches/Scouts off. Astros moved to AL West. I guess most of all what I want is a co-commish to share the responsibility with me. It's tough though when I don't know anybody around here. ![]() ...what I'm saying is... ya know... if you're interested in helping out. Just uh... let me know

I would join a fictional league as long as I was in from the start... I'd have a hard time jumping in later on I think. It would be fun to be able to pick a city and team name....
If I were able to join the UEBA and name my team the Hamburg Helpers, I'd definitely join!

Now, I'll have to wait to see if the GBL approve Hamburg as a possible place for a team!! (the fact the UEBA was formed there is a good sign!)

I'm going to wait and see what Tony has in store in terms of OOTP settings for the UEBA because there are some things that are likely a deal breaker for me and would ultimately decide where I invest my time. Someone else pmed me as well who is doing something similar to you, real mlb with fictional players, but there were some things there not entirely to my preference along with some really strong positives as well though. All this means is it will be tough to decide. If you want to share more about your concept, feel free to post here, or send me an email at the address in the original post. |

Completely fictional leagues are great, hell I've been in my fair share of them, but I think using MLB names/logos/settings as a base adds a consistency. If a GM leaves the league I don't want the replacement to be stuck with a team named the "Mexico City Rainbows", and offering free name changes to franchises if a manager leaves would be unrealistic and confusing for other managers. That's just how I see it. Good luck with your search for a league! |

I've put what I consider to be the settings that are the best (I am happy to consider stats only if such a thing is popular)
About UEBA - UEBA Baseball I'm just working on the Roster rules at the moment for the leagues, and the German and Spanish options.

Must also remember to create Great Britain as a nation because regions aren't used yet :-( Thanks for the offer. I'll let you know a bit further on down the line Sent from my X10 TripNMiUI-IRIS using Tapatalk

I thought I'd ask this here, as I'm sure others are interested to know as well. Why such a variance in roster rules between countries? Also, see my pm for other feedback

My thinking behind differing roster limits in the different leagues is that having some differentiation could suit different type of managers. Managers in the French league will have a smaller number of players to spend payroll on so could potentially offer more for the sought after FAs (within nationality caps) but have to balance that against the fact that they have to be controlled with their rosters and minor leagues and that injuries/call-ups will affect them more, whereas a team with a higher roster level will have more players to pay within a cap so can't offer as much but have that improved flexibility to cope with the unknown. Those limits may get retuned after some test sims to make sure that nothing gets too out of kilter.

Sounds like a fun concept! I could be interested in joining in and taking on Liverpool! Beetles would be too obvious a name, so we could borrow from the EPL and go Reds...

The whole regional champion idea sounds very interesting to me as well. Different rules, different countries... I certainly agree that this would appeal to a wide range of managerial preferences.
If this idea come to fruition, count me in. I would be glad to build a franchise from the ground up. |

I have been working on a fictional league as well... I am also willing to work with others. I like to commish and not manage a team... I think that's cheating.
