Team names reverted

I set up to play a semi-historical league beginning in 1910. I renamed the teams with fictional names and logos, released all players, and held an inaugural draft. I am managing one team.

All went well for the first season, but right after the post season, when the draft pool was announced, all the team names reverted back to their real historical names. Is there some setting I have missed that will prevent it from doing that?

In a historical league, the teams get their names from the teams.csv that is part of the .odb file after every season.

You would need to create a teams.csv with the names as you wish them to replace the one in the \stats folder. Then you'd also need to delete the included ODB file as well.

If I delete the original file, am I then disabling the game from playing an historic game with the real team names? Wouldn't want to lose that capability.

Is there another setup or workaround to accomplish what I'd like to play? That is, historic players in a league with fictional team names.

Delete the Historical Team id and the historical franchise id. Your teams will stay the same, but of course the players will not import in their original teams.

Edit : Just saw in your first post you do a draft so the phrase in italic will be no problem in your case.

How bout just turning off the league evolution according to history? I think you're just running a fictional league with historical players right.

Turn off historical league evolution but keep finances on. It's the historical league evolution option that's updating your league each year.

That sounds like the ticket. I don't see exactly that option, but the closest thing I am seeing is "automatically expand league." Is that it? Or haven't I looked hard enough?

And the other suggestion sounds like it'd work, too. Thanks to both of you.

"Automatically Expand league" is the right one, that will make the game automatically move teams, change stadiums, expand etc.
