Time Warp Baseball League
Just purchased OOTP24 and have tried a lot of different dynasties and have been thinking of doing something I haven't done before that will take into account history, fiction building, storytelling and drama.
The Time Warp Baseball League will start in 1901 and I will sim a year at a time until I am done with 2023 season. It will be historically the same league structure of MLB as well as rules, eras etc... In 2023 I will expand to 40 teams and I will take over managing an expansion team after I built the record books and history. The 2024 season will bring in fictional players with 30 famous fictionals being drafted each year, long way from now. Each yearly recap will cover a couple of posts. 1) Year End League Post - World Series, Standings, Awards, League Leaders, Major Events. 2) Almanac Report - which will show the history of the league building 3) Offseason Report - Covers first round of draft, firings, free agent signings, trades of significance, Hall of Fame Entries, So I start in 1901 As I get to the 1950's I would start to incorporate music of that year. Let's rewrite history. |

1901 - Draft Pool Feature
Each season we will key in on a player of note that will be drafted and what they were like.
SP George Mullin Wabash George Mullin is considered a solid top 5 draft pick candidate in this draft. He is from Toledo, OH and is hoping to play for the Detroit Tigers. He won 228 games in MLB baseball back in the day. He won 20 games in 5 different seasons and he pitched the first no hitter in Detroit Tiger history. He gets the name Wabash because he had been playing semi-pro baseball in Wabash, IN and the scouts loved him so he entered the 1901 draft for the 1902 season. Tigers are picking later in the first round so he could also end up with the Cincinnati Reds who are picking lower but then again Cincinnati and Toledo are far away from each other. |

1902 - Draft Pool Feature
The featured player for 1902 will be:
CHIEF BENDER Bender is projected to be a top 5 pick this draft from Crow Wing, MN. He is half Cherokee and should be an ace of any staff. The 1901 draft for the 1902 season produced 2 Cy Young award rookies so Bender along with Mordecai Brown, Cy Falkenborg and Andy Coakley (did not sign with Boston Beaneaters) should be making a nice pay day. In real life Bender pitched over 200 innings at 19 years old and was a well liked teammate. Most of his career was with the Philadelphia Athletics which will draft too high to get him so he probably will end up in Washington or Brooklyn at this point. Weird thing about him was that he was finished in 1917 but came back to pitch 2 innings in 1925. |

Draft Pool Feature - 1903
The featured player for 1903 will be:
SHERRY MAGEE There has been such a big run on drafting pitchers but for this draft despite a bevvy of great arms it appears that Magee is expected to go #1 to the Detroit Tigers. Magee is supposed to be a big power boost from Clarendon, PA. The likelihood he would end playing in Pennsylvania seems impossible as those teams finished near the top. He is considered the top pick in the draft but there could end up being another pitching frenzy in the draft so he could drop but Detroit looks poised to add him. In real life, Magee was mostly a Phillies player and lived to 44 years so he had a short life but now re-run history and how knows he could end up managing a team after the depression. |

Draft Pool Feature - 1904
The featured player for 1904 will be:
TY COBB The Georgia Peach is in the draft this season and all roads lead to St Louis as both St Louis teams have the worst records. Even though pitching has dominated the draft, Cobb is a generational player that will instantly be the best hitter in the game. Some say he was racist but he was actually a supporter of Jackie Robinson and got an unnecessary bad rap. Fans in St Louis are excited about Cobb playing in their city. He has been on the radar of scouts for 2 years and one does not think he will be dropping like Sherry Magee did. |
