Farm system made up of local players?

Hi,

Is there a way to make a league with teams from all over the country (like modern day MLB) but with minor league players that come in from each team's region? No draft - just young players from each team's region coming into that team's minor league system periodically.

I'm aware of the following:
In the nations file, you can replace one country (for example the USA) with multiple regions (for example, one "country" for each state). My understanding is that this wouldn't work for me because 1) If I have no amateur draft, the game will just put all newly-generated players into the free agent pool; 2) If I have a draft, then the system would create a draft pool out of all of the regions that are in my league.

It's my understanding that the method above could work, with a draft, if I had a league that was in one region only, like say localized to a single state. But if I want to have a league like MLB, with teams in multiple states, it wouldn't work (please correct me if I'm wrong).

So, is there some clever method that I'm not aware of, that will allow me to have a minor league system that's made up primarily of players from the parent team's region, but within a league that has teams throughout the country?

I think it could be possible, though I've never attempted it.

If you made each "state" into a "country" and disallowed foreign players, it may work. No guarantees from me, though....
