More FPS/Lahman Questions
OK, I've finally had a successful import of all my FPS stats into OOTP using the Lahman format.
BUT, I can't get the teams to work. I have my teams & teammaster files parallel to MLB (we have 2 leagues, 28 teams, 3 divisions per league) but when I import, all the teams show up as the mLB teams and all players are dumped into the FA pool. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong? |

Do you have each player labelled with a team ID? I have not used the DB much but I think that is part of it.

Yea, the players all imported fine, with player IDs and with their proper team code, which corresponds to those in the team/teammaster files.
I even used the exact same file as in the Lahman DB, only changing the team codes and it still didn't work. Argh. Since I'm importing a "historical" league, there is no initial draft, and so without getting all the players assigned to their correct teams, I'm not sure how to get the players there at all. |

Only thing I know of is to sign them one-by-one......ugh via the free agent pool.

I may be reading it wrong but it seems to me you did not change the team names in the teammaster and teams folder. I assume you have already made Lahman type csv files for all of your players. Be sure to include the proper team shortnames you want (ie NYY for Yankees or whatever 3 letter shortform you are using for your teams) in the batting and pitching csv files. Create a teammaster and teams csv sheet just like the original Lahman DB does but use your team names and 3 letter shortforms that correspond to the ones used in your player database. Once the teams and teammaster spreadsheets are stored in the same folder as your other csv forms on the players you should be ready to go. Create a new historical league and be sure to choose the season to be the same one as the years you used in your teams and teammaster file. If I read it wrong and you already did this then I think your only solution is go to league setup and select the "Reset Release all,Draft option which is found on the pulldown menu from below league setup. This will speed things up a little as you can now draft all the players to their proper teams.

Thanks, but I did indeed chage the team & teammaster to include the FPS team names and 3=letter codes which correspond with those used in the batting & pitching files. There is no trace of any MLB names.
I guess I'll test tonight using the Lahman teams files and simply adjusting 1 MLB team name. If that imports correctly, I'll work from there to see where the problem lies. If all else fails, I hope that release all/draft option does indeed work. On an aside, I assume the FPS converter will be released shortly as I have nearly completed this entire conversion process, importing stats from Micro League Baseball, FPS 96 (pre HTML outputs) and FPS 98. |
