81-82 season wins world championship!

I can't NOT relay this story lol. Playing on the iPAD, my Cleveland Vipers just pulled out a division flag with a one game playoff finishing the season at 81-82, then go on to win both rounds of the championships for the whole banana lol. First time I've ever seen a losing record win the World Series

Oh and what do I get for it? A 472 manager score lol.

The 1983 New York Mets made it to the World Series with a 82-79 record but still, they had a > .500 Winning Pct. But I guess after you get to the PO your season record does not mean anything anymore, every team can have a good run to win it all.

You had a tie for the division title with both clubs having an 80-82 record? Wow.

I believe St. Louis was only 83-79 when they actually WON the WS in 2006.

Actually, the Phillies went to the World Series (and lost) in 1983, not the Mets. I remember, because I was there. (Saw game 4 of the NLCS that year too. And I scored lots of player autographs that whole season: Rose, Schmidt, McGraw, etc.)

Twins had 85 wins in 1987, then knocked off the highly favored Tigers (98 wins)in the ALCS and the St. Louis Cardinals (95 wins) for the WS. Team was 29-52 on the road, but made up for it by destroying teams at home (56-25). This was the team that really turned me onto baseball!

I made a typo, it was 1973.
