Who should I name my Outstanding Batter Award after?

In my Mexican Baseball League I have finally reached 1992 and finally have some players with some history. I was wanting to name the Outstanding Batter Award after one of the best players in the league's "past".

Note: We only play 80 game seasons.

Ok, I would think Ezra, because he seems to be the most consistant in his seasons playing then Gallegos...

Gallegos looks like a hack swinger to me. He must have averaged 100 strikeouts per season, and that is far too many to be considered a true hitter.

DAMMIT! Why didn't I think of doing that! Naming the award. I was going to name stadiums, but that is SUCH a better idea.

Dammit. Probably hoses over Ryan's util as well if the award name changes.

I voted for Ezra Cruz. 5 Outstanding Batter Awards is pretty damn good for 10 full seasons.

Another vote for Ezra, I can't help but give him a little extra advantage because I imagine he was the top 2b in the league for years, bar none. While there were likely more outfielders on the heels of Gallegos.

Yep, he had a 17 game hitting streak to end the 1982 season then continued with another 28 games to start the 1983 season.

One thing about Gallegos is he hasn't called it quits yet, he's now 43 years old and in A Ball. But his .419 BAVG, 49 HRs, 116 RBIs are incredible for a 80 game season.

I was told some time ago that major league baseball does not recognize hitting streaks that cross seasonal boundaries....once the season ended, the hitting streak stopped. Does anyone know if this is fact?

This was talked about in a thread some time ago, I'm sure if you do a hitting streaks type search you'd find your answer. (The entire rule was brought out)

I would name it after neither guy. The Outstanding Batter should be named after a guy who stood out above the rest... If their is even a debate how can you name it after one them?
