Fantasy Baseball....OOTP style!

Good morning everyone.

Thanks to the hard work of Jeff Fox and his amazing utility he has built, I am opening up a fantasy league using an OOTP league.

Fantasy baseball got its start in 1980 so fans never had the chance to see stars from the 50's and 60's in a fantasy baseball format. Now you have a chance!!

The league will start with the 1951 season which will be simulated using the OOTP engine. The game will completely control all rosters and transactions and you will control your fantasy team!

You will NOT need to have a copy of OOTP to participate in the league, just access to the internet. I will update statslab so you can see how your players teams' are performing to help make decisions.

Currently, we can only have a head to head league with scoring by category. For example, each single will be worth 1 pt, each double with 2pts, each triple 3pts, etc. We can discuss which categories we use and how they will be weighted once we have enough owners. We can also play 1,2 or 3 matchups a week.

I have been beta testing with Jeff and I think this will be a utility that will change how people play OOTP and give the game more exposure.

Thanks for the kind words Pete. I hope people enjoy this alternative way to enjoy OOTP. I'm also excited to see a real live fantasy league that's not one of my demo leagues.

To anyone interested, besides Corsairs, Pete has been one of my most thorough and helpful beta testers. His testing is what spurred patch 3 which is making this league actually possible now. He also shaped which of the many administrative features I added. I think anyone interested would do themselves a disservice not jumping on the opportunity to try this out with him. Just my

though.

Also, we are limited to only head to head scoring fantasy leagues right now, but I'm working on how to make rotisserie scoring available as well.
