AI teams & Free Agency

Is there a reason why AI controlled teams are not active in signing free agents during the season when there may be better talent in the pool than what may already be on the roster? or is it due to scouting? (I am playing with it on)

Could be budgets also. The AI likes to spend and spend and if they run out of money, the FA stay in the pool, I have noticed.

Do the players in the FA pool have Major league experience because sometimes if the player does, they will not sign a minor league deal.

Do you have Ghost Players turned on?

Even with Ghost Players turned off, the AI has some trouble anticipating the need to hire FAs to fill minor league rosters due to injuries. I don't believe the AI will hire FAs for minor league teams for any other reason during the season, At least that's my impression.

I'm not saying the AI never signs free agents, I'm just saying it won't swap better FA's for worse players in the minors

I am not sure if they do or do not. I have noticed some decent prospects in the FA pool still wanting minor league deals but not many. If you have run the league for a while and this is happening it could mean too many feeders raising quality but I have only seen that happen when I doubled the amount of recommended feeders. Most of the time with legendary scouts and at least .5 max scouting budget, around 5 million, I think 10 mil is max, I don't find many good minor league free agents unless I have had too many feeders or too many draft rounds and it is at least 10 years into the league.
