Converting a league from an earlier version

I see there is a button to import from OOTP 12, but what if I have an old save file from an older league. Honestly, it's an OOTP league from 6.5, but I may have converted it once or twice although I don't recall as it's been so long.

Any suggestions?

If all of the demo are still available for the versions between 6.5 and 13, you could use them to import from version to version.

I don't remember if there was an import from 6.5 to the version after it, though. The first SI version was a complete game rewrite.

Welcome back!

Hey Spleen, good to see you're still around.

Yeah, that EA venture kinda knocked me off the wagon for a while. X didn't suck me back in but I'm enjoying this one so far; so we'll see.

If you're that many versions behind - I would seriously consider starting a new league altogether.

Appreciate the insight.

This is an old file from a league that I was commissioner of for about six "real" years, from OOTP3-6.5.

I have bought a few versions since then but now that I am actually enjoying a version for the first time in a while it would be nice to actually go back to a league that I truly had my heart and soul into.

I am playing a new solo league but was just inquiring about the possibility since it would make me happy.

For sure it can be done, all versions are still available. Someone posted a link to them some time back. Hopefully they'll see this thread and repost.

My thoughts were just that converting the league several times may cause some problems, but then again it may go smoothly. Best of luck with it either way.

And, yes, you can import a 6.5 league into 2006. I think the "import a 6.5 league" was around for a few versions after that, as well.

I just went and checked my hard drive. I have 6.5, 8, X and now 13.

Unfortunately, 8 does not have an import league option which could be due to the EA rewrite. Another reason to hate EA.

So it looks like I'm just stuck with the memories and will have to make new ones.

You may want to try re-installing 8. Every version has had the import previous version option.

BTW - EA had nothing to do with OOTP. It was SI Games.

All the versions had import. However, one of them (forget which one, but think it was importing from 6.xx to 2005 new build) would import but without previous league history. If my recollection serves, players kept their history but everything else would get left behind. If I remember correctly that's why I started over at that point.

EDIT: Checked the versions I still have and see that you can convert an ootp 6.5/6.12 league using ootp9. However, I don't think the league history will come along with it. The player history will, though.

I've done a 6.5 import all the way through 13 using each years game. The problems is the pitching model changed, can't remember which version and all pitchers imported without movement ratings, causing not very good results. In fact the next draft had pitchers at like 19 years old starting over the vets.

I gave up and started a new league because it wasn't believable.

Best Time To Convert

Is there a best time during the season to do a conversion from one version to the next?
