Updating All Franchise Teams

This may have been asked before I just can't find it.

I run an all-franchise historical league. best players and their best years. i turn off aging, i just want them to stay at their peaks every year.

Now supposed one of the players who is still active has a better year than the one installed. is there a way to update his best year to the better one?

thanks

Well, first the data has to be in the Lahman DB in the game. So, for example, you couldn't do anything about a guy who has a great 2010 until the next version of OOTP comes out next Spring. Then I think you would have to delete the guy from your game, and re-import him into the game from the new DB. Recalc won't work because that will screw up everyone in your league.

so....

so if its done that way player loses his historical data. which means his career stats is gone. he becomes a rookie every time he has a better year.

am i the only one who has this problem? it would seem a common thing for anyone playing a franchise all-star historical league.

there's gotta be a better way to do it or there should be....

thanks for the reply BTW

You could always edit the player manually.

Doubt it. Probably most of the people who do this play for one season only. The idea of editing the player ratings is certainly a good one.

i was hoping...

i was hoping each player has a unique ID that if we could output the players stats, go in and edit his real stats (the better year) and based on that his ability is improved. don't think that can happen though.

of course it would be good if there was just some 'update player' button that keeps his history but allows you to import his better season and at same time allows his ability to be enhanced based on his new 'peak season'.

that would be perfect for franchise all star leagues.

Well, there are lots of options, if you want to do the work. Here is what I would do, in the event I had an updated Lahman DB in the the game, and wanted to take advantage of it. I would clone my league, boot the clone version, go to the FA list, import my player, open the Editor for that player, write down all of the relevant ratings data, go back to my original league and edit the player accordingly.

Each player has a unique ID number for game purposes, and also one that is the Lahman ID, by the way. Both of those are shown in the Editor for that player.

thanks

i will try this at the end of the season.

another question especially since you got a lot of experience in this forum.

do i have a unique, petty need or is this something i could reasonably request on a future version?

i'm not a programmer but it seems like there could be an option on importing a historical player if the name or ID in Lahman's is the same to do all the things that i would have to do manually.

anyway...thanks for your help.
