Thierry Henry to the New York Red Bulls...

One of the greatest natural athletes in the world and I think he's still got some gas left in the tank. A 32 year old Henry may be "old" for top-flight European football, but in the MLS he's got to be considered one of the top players. What do you fubes think? Will it be another Beckham or will he make a serious impact?

He was pretty bad last season. I have my doubts that he's up for it. MLS isn't the quality of the major European leagues by any means, but the physical demands of it are at least as strenuous.

I don't really watch much Euro soccer, but he has to be better than most MLS strikers. Even if he isn't what he was 5 years ago. Beckham was different - he was clearly WAY past his prime (i.e. couldn't even run around for 90 mins).

It will be interesting to watch at any rate and gives the MLS a little extra exposure in a big market. Wonder if the MLS will become where Euro players go to finish up now.

In the FM version before the last one, I took over Liverpool and purchased Henry from Barcelona. He was a key man in winning the Premiership for me.

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

In Beckham's last season in Spain, he started 18 matches for Real Madrid and was only substituted for once (he would have had more starts, but Capello threw a hissy fit after he signed the pre-contract with MLS and refused to play him for a month and a half). Henry, on the other hand, started 21 matches for Barcelona and only managed to finish 7 of them.

Henry is in way worse shape now than Beckham was three years ago.

Forgot to mention one of the greatest pure talents of this generation coupled with a horrendous work-ethic at times. IMO it held him back from being considered truly to be one of the greatest, instead of just one of the best for his time when he was in his prime.

This could be another beckham situation, possibly worse, as Henry was not only horrendous last season, but also doesn't have the work-ethic or mentality to make-up for it. Could be done after a couple seasons in the league.

On the other hand it could be much better if he, as I think he still can do, turns it on and lights up at times. The overall package has much more to offer than beckham did as he is a striker who could change a game in his prime. Will be intersting to see.

I fully expect him to be the second coming of Christ. In other words, Pele!

I've been to Red Bulls games. Since I can't go to Euro soccer games, I have no choice but the MLS. My God I don't know where to start. Unless Tierry Henry plays every game with a severe sprain, he should kick some butt.

I've actually gotten tickets to see Henry's supposed debut for those Metrostars (I refuse to call them Red Bulls, out of sheer disgust). Hope to see home handballs!

What does the Liverpool fan do after winning the Prem?

Quits FM, turns off his PC, and goes to bed.

How long until he throws a hissy fit and quits?

I like it
If he stays healthy I think 7 goals is possible before the end of the season

Good debut for Henry. His goal was icky but he could have easily had two. Missed two chances early on before sliding into that cross to put the <Metrostars> ahead.

Will post my pics tomorrow if there's interest in seeing what I saw from the fourth-to-last row.
