is it possible to win an argument with an ump in OOTP4?
I used to argue, but then kinda realised that the manager never wins in baseball. Can you actually have a call reversed by arguing it in game?

Then what is the point in arguing? Does it make him make a different call on the next close play?

that's a good question, i have always wondered that. It's a great feature to take some frustration out with though........i thought maybe it affected players by making them play harder for you as a manager or something.

I feels like the calls go you way if you dont get tossed, so its like winning. Or im just making it up from my own mind. I dunno, Markus?

and no, I have no idea why the argue option is there if all it does is give you a chance at getting tossed.

I dont think there is really a point to arguing close calls. I think most people dont even bother anymore.

When is the last time you watched a manager in MLB come out and win an argument with an ump?

Don Zimmer did it with the Cubs once. He was so mad, he got kicked out of the game anyways, but he did win the argument.

Yes, it has happened!
George Brett and the pine tar bat....the opposing manager came out and argued his case, and the ump said......hmmmm.......yup, and pointed to George in the dugout and said "YER OUT!"
At which point George came unglued, and it was fun as hell. |

It happens so rarely, though, while managers probably argue, throughout all of MLB, quite a lot per season. Almost never does it change the outcome of what they are arguing about. Somehow, that doesn't stop them from trying it though, does it?

I just wonder if arguing has any effect on your team. If arguing fired up your team, or sunk them (because they just lost a tough call), then that would be pretty cool. But as far as I can tell, there is no effect in game.

I use the arguing a little differently. I like to argue and get booted because I can get a different perspective. I like to play the best average hitters most of the time, and when it comes to PH, I use the best available AVG vs. whoever's on the mound. When I've been tossed 3 times in a season, I consider myself suspended for the next game (and one game after each subsequent ejection). Hopefully, the computer uses other players, and they can play themselves into more PT when I run the splits. There's usually at least one player a season that makes me change my attitude toward his PT when the CPU is in charge.
