Minor League AI: Player Ages

I have noticed the AI tends to keep players that are too old in the low and mid minors. I glanced through 5-10 teams in a 24 team universe and noticed that there are avg ages of 28-30 in a lot of AA and A league squads.

Is there a way to "force" the AI to cut players at particular minor league levels via something like a roster age limit?

I wouldn't pay attention to ages specifically. I would instead look at years of prior minor league service, and make decisions based on that. The real-world minor leagues use service limits to determine player eligibility for play in a league.

Basically, it works like this:

Class AAA: no restrictions
Class AA: no restrictions
Class A-High: No more than six years of prior service
Class A-Low: No more than five years of prior service
Class A-Short: No more than four years of prior service
Rookie Advanced: No more than three years of prior service
Rookie: No more than three years of prior service

A year of service is generally defined as thirty days or more on the active or disabled list of a minor league club during a season.

Correct, but I'm seeing guys in Short A who are 33 with 6-7 years of Minor League Service.
