A Brief History of the NBA:

The National Baseball Association (NBA) was founded in 1972, after a merger of the declining National Baseball League (NBL) and two other leagues: the Southern Baseball League (SBL) and the Western Baseball League (WBL). Under the conditions of the Merger: the NBL, SBL and WBL's history would be archived and the NBA would start with a clean slate. The teams are below (with former league to the side):
