Questions
So it was late one night on early December me and a few other baseball lovers found ootp4 and decided to start an online league. I purchased by month bravenet for a server. After making a pretty nice site and gathering 28 other GM's i figured well it will be pretty easy to upload and export all that stuff to my site. Well boy was I WRONG. The standings page seems to come up just fine but when u want to click on a team, or free agents, the link says C:/leaguesiteteam8.htm instead of what it should say www.theblm.bravepages.team8.htm. See, I can only see the stuff because when I upload it, it for some reason dosent turn into the internet. And when I try to use ws ftp or ootp4 ftp it says timed out timed out. I really am stuck and looking for help

Lefty... weren't you using Dreamweaver or some other program in there somewhere? I am almost wondering if the program is changing all of the links. When you showed me the sight, the league.htm page was up there, but every embedded link on that page aimed to C:\ (as you said in your post).
On WS_FTP, email Bravenet. Ask them how you should have WS_FTP configured to upload files to your site. They wil be able to give you exactly what you need. It should only take a day or two to hear back from them. Once you have the right address to FTP to, WS_FTP works very easily. That still doesn't solve the problem of your league.htm page directing everything to the hardrive... which has me puzzled. Detail what exactly you do from creation of the web pages to attempting the upload. Be very specific. Someone will see what it is that is causing the problem. I guarantee it. Very knowledgable folk around here.

It is the weirdest thing...The standings page show up fine. But when you click on a team the link goes to C:/leaguesite8.htm instead of www.theblm.bravepahes.com8.htm . The link for the standings page is just fine...I just don't understand...

When I create my league.htm on my hard drive, the links stay within the folder instead of including the "C:/" part. I just create the files and then upload them, skipping the step I quoted from your post. Saving into the Dreamweaver folder... that is what is doing it. If you move the league.htm to a new folder, then it changes all of the links. That is why they are pointing to C:\ Skip that part, and directly upload to bravenet. Good luck

well guys i just found the problem...whenever i generate my report, it says league.htm exported . se then i go ito search and type it in. It comes up and I save it as ootp.htm . It then goes into my dreamweaver folder. I then go to my index page and type in ootp.htm in the standings. But the problem is, is that the player pages need to be saved in my dreamweaver file as well because they need to be uploaded. For some reason there is a file that says league site and about 4,000 player files inside of it. Now that would take me a month to do. I need to upload all thos files at once. Thats why the link says c:windows instead of what it should say. Any ideas here? Thanks

There should be a folder called leaguesite, not a file. The folder contains 1000s of files. These are all the various files that are produced when you click on Generate Report in the game. On that same page you will see that your destination folder says C:/leaguesite That means that all of the files that are created are sent to that folder. That is fine, you don't need to change the name of it.
You may need to change your strategy about how to design your site. See if someone in your league can help you out with this. Chances are you have an owner with some HTML experience. Most leagues have a nice, visually enhanced main page and then link it to all of those other files (the 4000) that get uploaded after each sim. You shouldn't have to load any files into Dreamweaver to get them ready for the Net. Just send them straight to the Net. Put a link from your main web page to league.htm and you should be fine. Use my league as an example (not the best) of how it can be set up. My main (or home) web page is http://www.nobl.net/index.htm That is the "nice" page with all the graphics, extra info, etc. The links down the left side (the green menu) take you directly to some of those 4000 pages that are created. You can go to the standings, teams, league financials, etc. You could see those same 4000 pages by typing in http://www.nobl.net/nobl/league.html That loads up the "main page" the game creates (under generate report). Good luck

yes... put the path to your Dreamweaver folder where it says C:\leaguesite on your On-Line League Options page.

Lefty, sorry but your site is still not happening and you are doing the same things you were doing in your previous post about this issue
. Why not just generate the pages with OOTP4, then use WS_FTP to upload them to your site as Treches suggested. Skip anything to do with Dreamweaver - it is an awesome program, but it requires you to be fairly knowledgable about the web and websites. The link to this free ftp program (WS_FTP) was posted by Treches in your other post about the problem . Here is the download link again if you don't have this program yet:http://download.com.com/3000-2160-15...ml?legacy=cnet Just generate the html pages using OOTP, then ftp the pages up to your bravenet site. Since I think you have a 5 MB per upload limit just up half the files, reconnect, then upload the other half. Good luck & feel free to PM or email me with a step by step walk through. |

When you create your HTML files, don't put ANYTHING in your DW file. Just use an FTP program to upload ALL the files in the LeagueSite folder up to your site into a folder that you create called "LeagueSite".
Then ALL you have to do is place a link on your index page to the LeagueSite/league.htm or standings page..........from there, you should be able to navigate to any of the other files. It's really simple, once you get your feet wet. |
