Real Pics instead of Face Gen?

Is there any way to use real player photos instead of face gens? I tried everything, disabled FG, look for photos first, deleted FG file, placed all of the photos in Savedgames/News/html/images but all I get is FG and only one player has a real photo.

I started out with the all in one mod.

Thanks guys

deleting all the fg pictures from your leagues news\html\images folder should do the trick.

This might not be a lot of help, but I started with the all-in-one mod too. I used my current season and went to picture options to use photo first and disabled facegen. Then I saved my file. Next I went to delete any facegen pics from news/html/images. Saved again and exited OOTP completely. Rebooted and all was good. My only problem is that I get no photos for a few players and they maybe coincidentally are the team leaders that show up on the right side of my home page. I was only 5 games into my season and this bugged me. So I reinstalled. Anyway, I hope some of what I mentioned is helpful to you!

Thanks guys,

I deketed all of the fg stuff, even the fg folder itself, with no luck. One thing that is strange that in preferences when I select 'get photo first' it always reverts back to get FG first, and it does that everytime I go to preferences.

I deleted all of the fg and still didnt switch to real photos. Maybe the all in one is the problem? Or maybe a full clean install of OOTP?

John
did you delete the players fg pics from your news\html\images? the actual png files? just be careful not to delete every png as not all of them are player images.

Yes all fgs were deleted, I kept the logos and some of the grahics. On my desk computer I converted from OOTP X and have no problems, only the laptop has the fgs, and it was from a seperate download and two computers on the same license.

Ok, so you deleted the news\images fg based image files.

If you could do this again and also rename your data\fg_files folder to fg_filesX (just so the game won't find it). Then it should be impossible for it to find your facegen files to generate new facegen pictures in your league.

If it still is showing facegens, then it is pulling them from a different location then you expect. Did you do a standard install or a custom install? A standard install puts data folders in your My Documents folder. Also, did you use the Expert Setting to move your saved game folder at all?

Robc,

Standard installation but I did try to use the expert setting to save some data. I was trying to use it for two compueters accessing one network drive. Once I tried to save it I never could find it, it didnt go where I thought it did. But what you say makes perfect sense, so that where I'll look.

Thanks,

John

I did an unistall with a clean install and all is well. I got the pictures instead of face gen but I cant hear the sound. Will work on that.

Whatever I did on the intial install I got the fg loaded somwhere which I never did find. One thing I noticed was whenver I tried to set up a new, the birthday,M-D-Y staid constant for all mgrs. I have no idea why.

Thanks for the help.

I got the sound working now; change Intro 1-2-3 with older ones to get rid of the rock music. I also noticed that there are very very few player pictures in saved/games/news/images, they are all in photo. In V9-10 I think you actually had to have in them in images?

Anyway all is well now. Back to changing the background picsfor the game screens and seeing if I can get the saved game file working on a net drive to use two computers.

Thanks for the help.

I think the game creates facegen pictures and moves real player photos into the news\images folder as needed, not at the start.

Good news! . I'm still dealing with the zombie file. I'll have to try re-naming the file, but by the way it acts, I think the file is hiding on my system too.

Quick check on uninstall. I've done it before and saved my league by removing it to desktop, deleting all other OOTP files and then re-installing. After the reinstall, I moved my league back from desktop to saved game file. Is that the best way to do that, or did you even delete all the other files before re-installing?

Robc,

There werent enough player pics in the news/image folders for the league. They must be somewhere else. I used to change a lot of the oics in Ver X, but in 11 there just arent there.

Knockahoma,

I did my uninstall on my laptop, the desk computer is the one with the older leagues on. So I went with a full uninstall, give up the license and relicense. So I had really no data to be lost;no past seasons, and no history.

I wish i could have found where the face gen were at and what was causing them to overide everything.

On the new install there are very few player pics in the news/images, they are somewhere else.

There are two folders in the \data folder:
\photos: holds photos of players
\fg_files: holds facegen files (like from the addons)

I think this is how it works, but I'm not sure.
When you create a league, pictures\facegens are not automatically put in the news\image folder. As the game needs them (such as if you play out a game and the picture is displayed on the field), it then either generates and image from an associated facegen file or looks for an associated photo. If it finds one, it is now placed in the news\images folder.

So when you first create your league the news\images folder may be empty, but it fills over time as pictures are needed.

Does this help or are you still having trouble?

But they won't switch Uniforms if they switch teams because I had people like Kevin Brown or so on didn't change it's Picture. No face Gen Picture are bigger and better. You could just post the non Face Gen Photo's in the Photo file.

I still cannot get the real pictures to appear; every player has the same facegen image. I installed the Gambo and T_wil1 Complete Photo Pack, and it installed a bunch of photos in the data/pictures directory. I then cleaned out the news folder, and restarted OOTP 11. Still no real pictures.
Is there a reliable method for getting the actual pictures to display?
