Importing individual real players into fictional league
One thing I thought might be fun is to take a clone of a real player and put him into a fictional league. For example, I'm 25 years into my fict. league. Can I take Albert Pujols, put him into the draft or FA (is it a different process?) and add him to the league as Alvin Pelosi?
Can anyone point me in a direction that would help? I searched for this with no success. Thanks in advance. |

first you need the lahman id this can be found by visiting said players bbref page. (pujolal01=Albert Pujols)
place yourself into comissioner mode and visit the free agent page then click import historical player and point to master.csv type in players lahman id and the the year you wish the player to be imported at if I wasn't clear enough let me know and I'll indulge further into it.

Youll also need to know the player ID used by the lahman database. Most players are in this format... First 5 letters of the last name + first 2 of the first name + 01 (or 02 for players will multiple entries in the database. IE. two or more players with the same name) For example, Albert Pujols is would be "pujolal01". You can import the player so he enters the draft or just as a free agent using the options available. edit Im slow
