A couple of schedule questions

Apologize if this has come up before or if I'm missing something obvious:

1) Is there a way to make the game use a schedule *template* without using the exact schedule -- i.e. the 2010 major league schedule, only with the teams mixed up so that individual teams have a new schedule every year? There was a way to make this work in past versions but this version seems to just revert to a prior real-life major league schedule. If I deleted ALL other major league schedules that match the makeup of the current MLB, might this do the trick? Or would it just replay the same schedule (i.e. 2010) over and over again?

2) As in real life, I want the MLB season to start on Sunday and the non-short A/rookie minor leagues to start later that week. If I just leave it to its own devices, some minor leagues will start 11 days after the MLB schedule starts, and sometimes they will start a few days BEFORE MLB starts. In past versions, even if I went into League Options and inputted a specific start day and date for each league based on the calendar for that upcoming season, the game seemed to ignore me and do its own thing. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong, or has it been fixed this year?

After changing the settings, you need to click functions and select edit league schedule and on the schedule page click "Regenerate Schedule" that should do it.

OOTP does this by default for fictional leagues. It'll either load an existing schedule file or generate one, and use that same schedule in subsequent seasons but switching around opponents with the same matchups.

Historical leagues use the historical schedule for each year.

You can do this by a little editing of the schedule files you want to use for each league.

If you open the schedule file in Notepad or Wordpad (even though the files have an .lsdl extension, then can be opened up in a text editor without issue). At the top there is a little header line containing information about the parameters of the schedule file. It'll look something like this:

<SCHEDULE type="ILN_BGY_G162_SL1_D1_T4_D2_T4_SL2_D1_T4_D2_T4 _C_" inter_league="0" balanced_games="1" games_per_team="162" start_month="4" start_day="3" start_day_of_week="2" allstar_game_day="100">

You can the specific start month and day. Of note here is the "start_day_of_week" entry. That specifies the day of the week the schedule should start on (where 1 is Sunday, 2 is Monday, and so on). What that entry means is that the schedule will open on that day of the week which first falls on or after the stated opening date. From the example, the schedule will open on the first Monday on or after April 3rd in each year.

You can use this feature to get your minor leagues to always open on a specific weekday after your major league opens. However, given the way leap years can affect things, you may need to work out carefully the proper relative start dates and opening day of the week to ensure your minor leagues always opens a few days after your major league.

There is already a sweet set of 30 rotating schedules if you don't mind moving a team to the American league (5/5/5 division strcture with interleague play).
