A couple of questions

For the first time in buying OOTP practically every year I haven't slacked off of my enjoyment of V11. Probably have about 1/3 of the manual printed out.

But it does bring back memories as to why I never stayed with OOTP in the past. I just have too much trouble with my old brain figuring things out. However, the game looks so great on my big screen and plays so well I won't be giving it up this time.

Here are some quick and possibly dumb questions I've gathered these past few days. Any help would be appreciated.

1. I'm 99% sure the answer is no but I'll ask anyway. There is no way to save a game in progress...say it's the 5th inning...so you can return and finish it later...right? Hate it when I'm involved pitch by pitch in a solid game and have to leave the pc for an extended time...simming to the end ruins it for me.

2. Besides a couple of historical seasons I'm playing I'm trying to create a strange historical playoff season style league. It will contain hopefully 3-4 World Series/playoff team matches. The WSeries teams from 59, 83, and 2005 with my WSox and their opposition.

I set it up in 59 and removed all the teams but the 59WSox and Dodgers and Yankees and Braves. I spent almost 45 min trying to import the 2005 WSox and Astros after spending another 45 min trying to get their rosters correct. I couldn't get any teams to show up in the import box and then saw the note that the season obviously could not be in progress. I still can't get either team to transfer.

3. I've looked everywhere and I guess with all the stats that OOTP keeps...it does not keep the run support stat that the pitcher received. Can't find it anywhere. Just would really like to know what help the pitchers got.

4. I like the look of the ball parks on my big screen in the Widget mode and after setting up the ball locations in the ball parks myself or with importing I decided to try the bigger resolution in the configuration...1280 x 960 or something like that. Looks even better than the regular resolution but sadly of course that messes up all the ball locations. Too much time to redo all of that unless...I'm missing something that will auto expand them for the bigger resolution.

Thanks for your time. Any help would be appreciated but I'll keep studying because this time I'm not giving up. The game looks and plays fantastic on my 22" screen and new pc.

As an aside note...when I went back to 2005 to finish the season so I could import the teams for my newstyle league I couldn't resist the playoff round page. Will have to finish that one out mostly with simming but I'll be playing a few games with the Cardinals pitch by pitch.

Great stuff.

Let's see what I can help you with.

You are correct, there is no way to save it in progress, close the game, and finish it later. What I do is stop it, turn off the sound, and hide it all until I can come back to it. Works at least for during the day. Not if you want to finish it the next day.

I'm going to skip this one, because I don't have any direct experience. Hopefully someone else will weigh in.

There are a lot of stat options that are not included in the default views. Specifically, if you go to the View menu while in any roster type screen, you can customize any of those views. Run support is one of the options you can add for pitchers.

No, you have to settle on something and then you can set up all the coordinates. One of the challenges is that the edit ballpark stadiums are based on the BNN Broadcast view, but the widget version of the stadiums has a different aspect ratio. But maybe you already figured that out.

Thanks SteveP...

You have helped me on numerous occasions.

I should have known. This game has depth even in the midst of it's depth. Great news for me. I'll be checking that out thoroughly.

Your work-around for stopping a game in progress sounds good to me...unless of course my young grandsons are around.

Thanks again...
