Minor League development

I have set up my minor league managers to handle the lineups/promotions/demotions/etc. but was wondering what other users would recommend as the most effective way to monitor my players and determine which are viable prospects (outside of BA's annual rankings) and should be most closely monitored.

Thanks in advance.

Also, outside of the 'Minor League System' assessment of each player in the system, any other considerations that should be taken into account?

BTW - playing with scouting/coaching off.

I use the MLS assessment as my main guide. I'll see what it suggest for a player and then look at his stats and ratings. If he is killing the ball, he'll probably get promoted if the game also suggests it. If his ratings on my usual 1-10 scale are, say, 5s, he should be in Double-A at least even if he is struggling a little - provided, of course, that he isn't super young. I don't really know that I can provide too much help here. My method is a slipshod amalgamation of all of the information available to me. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes the prospect develops well despite me messing with me.
