Historical set up

Let me see if I understand this right....

If I'm starting a historical league and I want players to perform SIMILIARLY to how they performed in RL (I understand with changes in home park, facing different pitchers, ending up on different teams and in different parts of the lineup that they won't be exactly the same), then when I'm setting up the league I need players to be "rated based on real life statistics" - right?

Also, I do not want player development - right?

Do I want randmon R/L splits to be generated? I would think "yes"

Right -- their careers will look a lot like what they were IRL.

Probably. If you leave it on, player performance may vary unexpectedly during a season. However, that gets pre-empted with the next recalc.

A matter of taste (IMHO). Some people think the results are unrealistic for some players, and they are right. But not having the splits are unrealistic for others. It's one of those trade-off problems that are hard to avoid. If you use the splits, and you see a player for whom that is just not working, you can fix that player in the Editor, if you want.
