Good job on your first one. The curved text is always tricky. I had to work my way up to that and I still don't get it to be perfect. I like the smoking pirate and the bats.
Couple constructive suggestions (if you were looking for them): a) Personally I'd use a different font for the lettering. The fonts like that with one very skinny side don't always showup or scale very well. That's more of a preference thing b) When I do circle logos like that, I make the center circle a different color than the colors in the center pic. For instance, I might pick a lighter yellow maybe with some additional grey to give some contrast with the yellow in the pirate pic. You could probably pick some shade of grey instead too. Another alternative would be to make a more distinct outline around the pirate. Maybe others that are more artistic could give a few pointers too. |

Not bad, for a first attempt. You should have seen mine!!!
![]() A few pointers: ~ Try to work with a larger size logo and then scale it down to 150x150 ~ Save as a .png file, so that you can utilize transparency (make that white around the circle clear) ~ As TFinNC said, maybe a white outline around the baseball guy would highlight him further. I don't know what you used to make the logo. I strongly recommend download the GIMP and Inkscape to create/draw logos with. The GIMP is a free photo-editing software, which I used to use exclusively for making logos. Recently, Tombair, a forum member, showed me the way of using Inkscape to actually draw my logos in vector format. I now draw logos with Inkscape and edit them in GIMP. Good luck to you in your future logo creations, and keep trying out new things, it's the only way to learn. |

Good point. I use two programs too. Some programs do things better than others. GIMP is good for outlining things and making paths.

Certainly better than my first attempts. I use Gimp for my logos, got a lot of help and encouragement on these boards from EnglishRay, DCHepler, NoPepper and others. Here are some examples of logos I did with Gimp for my fictional historical league (trying to get an old-time feel with the design/lettering). Happy to share any information about using Gimp...just let me know.

If you look through the OOTP 9 mods forum you'll find a thread called "My first attempt at circular logos" (or something like) started by DCHepler and which I joined at the same stage that you are now. There should be lots of info in those posts and I'll try to find the notes that I made when I was making my logos regarding fonts and lettering sizes etc. that I used.
