Starting lineup self awareness.
Is there a setting than can be tweaked to help a 35 year old guy realize that he has no talent and is now a backup, bench player?
Too often i see these guys that, in their prime were starting lineup guys. But well past their prime, you would think they would realize this and accept a bench job. But they don't, they complain and fume that they are no longer the starter. The same goes for guys who were once great leadoff hitters, but now have slowed up, but seem to be oblivious to the fact that they are old, and still demand to be at the top of the lineup. thanks. |

I hate it when I have had a guy on my team for years and even though he is well past his prime he wants top $$$ to re-sign. Come to think of it, sounds a lot like real life.

while i do agree, it does happen. It should be the exception, not the norm.
Ball players have their certain amount of arrogance about them, and im sure they have there "hopes" about where they play. But overall, smart players know the game, and recognize that their skills are dropping, they cant hit worth a damn, and that they should be a bench player. In real life, Johny Damon holding out for a fortune and a starting fielding job, he cant field/throw to save his life, but he can hit(in yankee stadium). He should be a DH, but he will be the last person to see that for some reason. While Aubrey Huff, knows his bat isnt what it was, takes a lesser salary to DH play 1st. He knows he is not the starter he once was. I dont think my older players should all be angry if they are bench players, stepping aside to let a much more capable player move through the ranks. Maybe just turn morale off? |
