Fantasy Football: I am about to scream at my friends
So I joined a league with my friends. I had to go to the airport and pick up my son during the draft, so I got screwed pretty bad by autodraft. Something like picking a kicker in the 6th round a tight-end in the 4th and not even the best tight-end.
So my team came out looking like: Drew Brees Ronnie Brown Ray Rice Roddy White L. Coles TJ HouschWHATEVER Dustin Keller Green Bay's Kicker (he has a bye this week so I dropped him) Dolphins Defense On the bench I had: Carson Palmer Darren McFadden LeShaun McCoy Josh Morgan And some other no name receiver. Any way, as you can see I was really really light in the receiver. And before the year began my buddy Chuck wanted White. So I told him no, but the he offered my Frank Gore for Brown and White So I did that trade. Then Gore got hurt. Any way to make a long story short. Through drops and trades I now have. Palmer, Carson Mendenhall, Rashard RB Rice, Ray Houshmandzadeh, T.J. Massaquoi, Mohamed WR Morgan, Josh WR SF Keller, Dustin TE NYJ Prater, Matt K DEN Redskins DST Brees, Drew Gore, Frank McCoy, LeSean Coles, Laveranues WR Holt, Torry Still not the best team, but decent. Still hurting at receiver. My buddies know this so they keep offering me crap trades. Here are some of the doozies they have sent me. Drew Brees and Meddenhall for: Sydney Rice, Mario Maningham and Julius Jones I countered just because I was upset with Brees for Chris Johnson and Steve Smith NY Then Drew Brees for: Mike Sims-Walker Percy Harvin I countered with Carson PALMER for Mike Sims-Walker Steve Smith (Carolina) Then this morning was a doozy: Dree Brees and TJ Housh for: Larry Fitzgerald and John Carlson I countered with CARSON PALMER for: Reggie Wayne and New Orleans Defense I keep countering with off the wall stuff because I figured if they think I will make a trade just to make a trade they are crazy. I know that once Gore gets back and I have Gore and Brees then I have a pretty decent team. If I can just find a WR or two off the waiver wire then I am going to be fine. But they seem to think because I have weakness at receiver they can just force me to trade Brees. Any way, I want to scream because these guys are guys I grew up with and they are calling telling me I should make the deal.

Should have got Burleson. He's always available until he rattles off some decent games because you have to be 5 times better than a normal player at that position to get looked at if you play for the Seahawks.

Just my opinion but I wouldn't have done the Gore deal.
Brown is putting up just as good or better numbers than Gore even though Gore had the big blowup game. White is off to a slow start but was a top 10 receiver last year and could be again when the year is done. Also I wouldn't trade Brees unless you get at least two good starters back in return. Yeah i know Brees has had a couple not so great games in a row. Brees is a stud, he'll put the numbers up before the years is done. |

I know I shouldn't have done the Brown/White deal. I was thinking that with Gore and Brees I could be unstoppable. I guess I didn't think about Brown not being much worse than Gore.
As for Brees. They keep saying that because I have Palmer, I should be able to trade Brees. Well my answer to that is, offer me what you would for Brees as if I didn't have Palmer. It isn't your job to know who I am going to replace Brees with. And if you think that Palmer is an equal replacement, then trade for Palmer.

WR's are too hit and miss (and easily replaced by following the waiver wire to get the current week's special) Brees is almost untradeable IMO. Unless your opponent has Peyton you always have a good strong advantage going into every game with Brees on your team.

I'd make that trade in a heartbeat. Your gonna have Palmer at QB, get three really good receivers and you're really only giving up Brees. I'm a Niners fan and I don't think Crabtree has that big an impact this season.
Look at Palmer's schedule coming up. @BAL - Raven's secondary has been vulnerable HOU - Not the best defense and they can score so it could be a shootout CHI - At home should have good numbers BYE BAL - see above @PIT - really the only game he might have real problems scoring @OAK - over in the first half CLE - probably a much better showing at home then last week DET - lotsa points @MIN - look what Shaun Hill and Aaron Rodgers did here @SD - haven't stopped anyone KC - probably your championship game and could you ask for a better matchup I'd take the three receivers. Just so you know I'm not just blowing smoke. I have Brees and McNabb in my league and am considering trading McNabb and a DE to get Palmer to then trade Brees for Rivers and then Rivers for Matt Ryan and Antonio Gates, leaving me with Palmer starting. I know it looks kinda weird but the guy with Rivers is a Saints fan and the guy with Ryan and Gates is a huge Chargers fan.

Dont trade Brees. Palmer is at his best right now the 10th-15th best fantasy QB. The Bengals offense isnt close to what it was.
The WR you picked up from the Browns should do decent. Housh is solid. Crabtree will be a none factor this year. Can you do Crabtree/Palmer for a guy like Roddy White? |

There's not that many teams with dominating pass defense.
Brees has Tampa and Carolina in week 16 and 17. I just don't think its worth it in terms of consistancy. There's enough WR out there. You need to have a solid QB because the top QB's average the most points in fantasy.

Not a fan of fantasy football but dont trade Brees. I will hunt you down a whack you in the marbles with a sledgehammer if you do.
![]() Anyhow, on a serious note, I'd be willing to do a deal of Palmer and Crabtree (dont think he will make much of an impact this year, and it will be too late in the season even if he does) for those Harvin, Smith, and a lesser than Palmer QB (to back up Brees). (But, it all depends on keeper league and all that, dont remember if you mentioned that). Maybe you should just tell them, you are not getting Brees, if you are desperate for a QB talk to me about Palmer otherwise leave me alone.

Maybe you should pick up Delhomme and offer him in a QB trade.

You could trade Delhomme for a punch to the temple to let you forget you ever had Delhomme.

I imagine the DBs would get relatively the same reads.

The thing is, the guy isn't hard up for a QB. He has Flaco, and he is not going to keep Brees any way. He is going to trade him for Larry Fitzgerald.

Well, if it is just one guy doing that. Trade Brees yourself for Fitzgerald (though I'd want more than just one receiver, even Fitzgerald). In the event you were to want to trade him. Hee-hee. Screw him over, maybe he'll learn not to be an @$$hole next time to trade.
