Schedule Generator & Unbalanced Schedules?

I have another question - I've been putting together a fictional set-up with 1 sub-league & 2 divisions, one of 4 teams & the other of 6. What I would like is to have an unbalanced schedule, but when I de-select the 'balanced schedule' box & then click the 'generate fictional schedule' button, the game tells me it can't generate a schedule. Does this mean that if I want to have an unbalanced schedule, I have to create it manually? Thanks.

you can only generate a schedule in the preseason

The game will only do balanced schedules, yes. You can either create one manually, download one that fits your settings (if available) or request one from gmo in the schedules forum (still in hte OOTP 9 subforum, I think.)
