Darn 3rd Baseman!!!
So, this is my OOTP8 league, played every inning of every game and am in my 15th season. I've seen 2 no-hitters (1 for my team, 1 against), and never a perfect game.
So, tonight, I'm playing. And it's getting closer. And closer. Darned third baseman. My Yankees won the game 1-0, behind the stellar pitching of Bryan Mack. The Yankees scored their one and only run in the 5th inning, when Mack took it upon himself to provide the scoring. He led off with a single, moved to second on a weak ground ball to the right side that made it one out, then advanced to third on a wild pitch. The next batter grounded out, with Mack scoring the only run of the game. And on his pitching side. No hits. No walks. No hit batters. No balks. He faced 28 hitters because my third baseman messed up a ground ball that my old fat arse could've gotten to. Scored the games only run, and as near to perfection as I've ever seen. Goddarnd third baseman. Oh well, that's why I gotta keep playing, right??? EDIT: Whoops. Forgot to mention it was one out, 7th inning, when the error occurred. That's why the suspense was building. Love baseball, and even with all the flaws I complain about as much as anyone on here, love OOTP. Darned good game. Darned third baseman.

81 pitches and inches from a perfect game. Ouch.

I lost a pennant one year on an error at third by, of all people to do it, Brooks Robinson.

In my fictional league, a pitcher of mine went down for the season and I traded for a Japanese pitcher , in his second start he pitches a perfect game, the first in the many years I have played OOTP. He starts of with me 7-0, then procedes to go 0-8 after that. Hopefully he hasn't "shot his wad" cause I am just about to start the playoffs.
