Version X League Totals
Hey guys. I'm still searching for those perfect settings. I plucked in the nubmers RchW game me for player developtment/aging and am finally happy with those. The career paths look really good.
The issue I'm now running into is as follows: Career HR leaderboard seems to be off. In a 50 year test sim 3 players over 500 HR's and 1 of those hit 622. Career W Leaderboard is off. Highest career win total is 270. My AL ERA is pretty high normally in the low 5's. Anyone have any suggestions to help any of these. The league is a standard MLB format. Thanks in advance. |

If you are trying to simulate modern post-steroid MLB, those numbers don't look too bad. Maybe the ERA is a little high.
Best way to do this is to pick a year you want to emulate (could be 2008) and look up the league totals stats for that season at baseball-reference.com. Then compare the league totals for H, HR, BB, etc.. of an average year somewhere in your 50 year sim to the league totals in that season. If you have significantly different no of teams or total AB's, you need to do it in terms of rates (like HR/AB or BB/AB). See what is off and adjust the League Total Modifier by a percentage that you want to change this. For example, if you have 15% too many walks, adjust the LTM for walks down by 15%. I find walks to be generally too high in many situations, causing high OBPs and runs/ERA. Sometimes 2Bs and SBs are off as well. Try it out. I have some settings for 80s style baseball, but nothing for modern day. Last edited by TribeFanInNC; 09-17-2009 at 04:51 PM. |

Would you mind either posting on here or sending me a pm with your 80's style baseball settings?

Sure, I will post when I get home in a few hours. Also when I say 80s, I mean earlier 80s. I think I was trying to emulate 1984 NL totals if I remember correctly.

Here are my settings to replicate 1984. They worked pretty good for a couple test runs I did, then of course in my 'go' league, OBP and runs are too high again. I think I'm a little short on pitching talent; I'm trying to rectify that as I go.
League Avg is .269/.350/.390 most of the way through my current season with no DH. ERA is 4.29. |

Well my major issue is the league ERA. The league ERA for the AL is hovering around 5.15 and for the NL it's right about 4.55. The AL at max should be around 4.50 and the NL about 4.30. I mean these arn't huge differences but it does add up. I know I'll never get these figures exact but in the ballpark would be nice.

My settings are very close to Tribe's. I'm running a sim tonight with these settings and .9 for dev and aging. Guess I'm just really wasting some time before the patch.
