world.dat missing?
I posted this another thread but wasn't able to solve the problem, and then to make things worse my real life started getting all time consuming and stuff. So, I'm gonna give it another go. I'm having problems opening an online league. I'm using a PC, XP and the single player seems to be working fine, as far as I can tell. I create a New Folder in Saved_Games called shiba.lg and unzip the league file to shiba.lg When I try to open shiba I get these error msgs. The file I have is the same size as the one those who have this working correctly have.
OOTP cannot load this database because the file world.dat is missing! The loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save game from an old version. I've removed everything but the license and reinstalled the game. I seem to be missing the default.lg folder, and a couple of files that are created when you export the online files, I think. Here's what I have: Folders ... ballcaps import_export jerseys leaguefile messages news replays settings temp .... and these files coaches human_managers messages names nations2 offers parks players retired scouting teams trades weather world |

This is most definitely an issue with the directory structure that was created when you unzipped the league file. Take a careful look, and make the necessary corrections.

I am assuming you don't have a folder inside of a folder, right? (i.e. the unzip process placed a shiba.lg folder inside the shiba.lg folder you created).
I don't have any great ideas either. |

Here's what I have, it seems consistent with what others have.
Main folder: shiba.lg Subfolders: ballcaps contains 'default_ballcap_texture' and a 'readme' doc import_export empty jerseys empty messages contains 45 'readme' docs msgs 1-45 news contains 2 folders html and txt html contains additional folders box_scores coaches game_logs history images(contains in game images bb america logo, stars ect.) leagues players reports scripts('datecheck' and 'sorttable' JScript files) teams and temp. txt contains subfolders leagues players teams - all empty replays empty settings empty temp contains DAT files 'coaches' human_managers' 'messages' 'names' 'nations2' 'offers' 'parks' 'players' 'retired' 'scouting' 'teams' 'trades' 'weather' and 'world' I don't have the page_links subfolder or the faces and ethnicities files, but I think those are created when I, if I, open the game. I'm getting error msgs saying the world file is missing, corrupt or from a previous version. |

When you go to the main screen, instead of selecting Continue, if you select the Load option, does your leage appear in the options to load? If it does, what happens when you select it and start the game that way? Does it give you the same world.dat missing message?

I get these msgs when I try to open each way.
"OOTP cannot load this database because the file world.dat is missing!" "The loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save-game from an old version." |

Can you move the contents of the temp directory up to the main league directory level (shiba.lg) and see if that works.

Yeah. That's how it was setup when I originally unzipped. I'd been trying to move the world file around to different folders hoping for .... IDK
Everything is back in the main directory now. The only difference is I get a msg that seems to recognize the world.dat file but cannot load it. |

Do you have a link where we could download this league file to see if we can get it to work?

All I can suggest is deleting the league you have, and re-downloading because the file looks ok to me.

Other Leagues like Negro League,Nippon to give the same Error and I use 7-Zip to Extract them and those are in Rar form not Zip and other Leagues like to Crashes with that Microsoft Run Time Error exspically the one that comes with the Latest Patch or others when I try and start a New Game with a Template.

I opened the game. Thanks for all the help. I removed everything but the license, and downloaded OOTP10 again. Opened easily. I'm still not sure what the problem was. Again, thanks.
