Hitting Pitcher Positional / Depth Chart Bug
Version: 10.2.16
PC/MAC: PC and Mac What were you doing? Placing a pitcher within the depth charts as a hitter and starting him as a pitcher. What happened? The player started at 3B and P. Reproducible? Yes Problem occurs with other leagues? Yes This issue can be seen in a recent box score here. Taking a close look at Casey Kelly. Essentially, the General Manager wanted the pitcher to start at 3B in the event his regular 3B was tired. This just so happened when he was slated to be the Starting Pitcher. As this was the Carolina League, the team had a DH as well. The player is seen has having played 13.1 innings at 3B (4.1 innings at Pitcher and 9 at 3B), which is physically impossible. |

This has been a problem since I started playing OOTP 5. It is a major problem in pre1900 historical leagues where you have 1-3 pitchers and rosters as small as 11 players. The only way to catch and fix this problem is to manage both teams for every game so you can fix the lineup, start the game then you can go back to the computer manager.
There seems to be a disconnect between the depth chart and the pitching rotation. What I would suggest is the the pitcher be selected first and that player is flagged as unavailable for the depth chart which is then filled with the next available player. |
