Manager Ignores GM's Instruction

I, as the GM of the Rangers, can't get Ron Washington to do what I ask of him, and it's getting to be a bit frustrating.

Ron keeps wanting to put one of my middle relievers into the starting rotation, even though I've set his position to MR about a million times (Note: I have more than enough starting pitchers available to fill the five spots).

What can I do to force David Aardsma to stay in the bullpen?

Oh, and the same goes for closers. I'll set a player's position to CL and they'll rarely ever actually appear in the closers role within the pitching staff's lineup.

How can I get managers to take instruction on the roles I instruct them to implement?

Thanks!

The AI can only be doing this if you given the AI control over lineups/depth charts/pitching staff. If you give the AI that control, then the AI is going to do whatever it's going to do.

Go to your managers page and check to make sure you have control over all that stuff. There are drop downs where you can set who controls what.

If he's doing it, it's because you're letting him do it.

I guess I just figured that the GM would be able to override the manager during moments when they're making absolutely stupid moves. I guess I'll just learn to trust Wash a bit more.

Thanks, guys!

Or, as suggested above, you could go to manager/options and change the setting so that you control line ups/depth charts/pitching instead of the AI.

Or you could edit Aardsma so that he has such low endurance (or only 2 pitches) so that the AI won't use him as a starter.

Assign your rotation/batting lineup/depth chart yourself. Or if you do want certain fielder's in a place use force start in strategy options for that player.
