Do not trade for this man.
(Fictional league, default setup in 6.5 - started with 'my' draft year).
Norman Caldwell. Born 10th August 1965. A one-star pitching prospect, Caldwell went undrafted in 1993, and was offered a minor league contract by the reigning champs, New York. Norman had a 12 year career and was traded six times. Here are the other half of his trades: 1. Juviel Perez - Not much of note, however was traded 5 times, each time between Florida and Tampa Bay! Won 4 championships in the midst of those trades. 2. Simon Nesbit (hence my interest) - 230 wins, five time All-star, dual POTY, 3 championships (all with Oakland after trade). 3. Pedro Caminos - 2 time All-star, 3 time champion, all after trading. 4. Donte Wolfgram - 2494 hits (ouch), once all-star won 2 championships after trading. 5. Mario Witherall - 228 wins, 3 time all-star, twice world champion, one POTY. 6. Misao Yoshiaga - 2640 hits, 4 time all-star, one MVP, one championship. So in 12 years, 15 'other' parts won World Championships....4 of those players going very close to HoF status. Must have been a pretty good player right? Not really. Caldwell was an all-star once - mainly on the back of TWO perfect games in succession. He was traded for Wolfgram on the 4/22/2002, threw two perfect games, and was then traded for Witherall on the 5/3/2002. They were his only two MLB starts at Boston. Now as he announces his retirement before the start of the 2005 season, he reflects back on an 61-81 record, 41 saves, and a lifetime ERA of 4.21, over 2500 IP.....and ZERO Championships. Six times he left a team, and went to either the reigning Champion (4 times), or World Series loser (twice). Each time that team then crashed and burned - following a steady decline until he left. 4 clubs won a Championship either the year of, or the year after he left. Boston was the only club that managed to win a championship in the same year he arrived on the roster...he was only on the roster for a fortnight, and threw two PERFECT games in his only two starts. ...and then, after not winning a contract with Minnesota in 2003, he went down the minor league sign/release exchange. Five times Minnesota signed him to a minor league contract in 2003/04. Five times he was released. He was released for the final time on the 8/30/2004, a day after being elevated to the active roster. Minnesota won the 2004 World Series. I don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for him. His nickname should be "Dreamkiller".

Game started with Inaugral Draft in 1993. He was a low-range relief prospect, and I generally only have 25 (active roster) in draft when I'm not managing.
