BZ 3463: Gulf Coast teams all based in city "GCL"
Started a 2009 Major League game, simulated several years, trying to play day by day. Information about happenings in the Gulf Coast League is somewhat less than informative. See examples.

ACM, sorry for the delay in responding to your thread.
![]() I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand what the problem is that you're describing. Can you explain in a little more detail what's not right about your examples? Thanks, Steve

Take a good, close look at the schedule. All of the teams are named "GCL". How does one tell them apart?

Ahh, I see now. Sorry, looking at a lot of screens these days.
Does this only happen for you in this particular saved game? Or any Major League game? I'm going to try to reproduce the issue myself when I get a moment... Thanks! Steve

I suspect the problem derives from the fact that the "city name" for every team in the Gulf Coast League is "GCL". |

You are correct...
It is because of the naming convention and the Gulf Coast League. If you alter the Name/City it will have an impact in other areas of the game (i.e Standings...or anywhere you have both City and Nickname....which might look just as wierd). The GCL is one of those strange leagues that doesn't represent a city.... just an organization.....and plays the games at the spring training facilities. (Same goes for the Arizona League). OK, I understand the problem now, thanks for helping out, SMFXR01! (Sorry, I don't play Major League games, so it's all Greek to me!)
That said, I'm not sure there's a good answer for this right now. Based on this information, it's clear there's no "bug" causing the problem. It's just part and parcel of the way the teams are set up. What do you guys think of this as a possible solution? We could change the city names for each of the GCL teams to "GCL + Home Team City". So, instead of all "GCL," it would say "GCL Philadelphia" or "GCL Washington"? Thoughts? Steve

I logged this as issue 3462, just so we can get it cleared up in the next patch.
ACM14850, I believe my solution is something you could try, but I would recommend doing it between seasons, because the game will treat it the same as a "relocation," which might make your historical reports look a little wonky, if that sort of thing bothers you. Thanks! Steve
