(edit: btw, any way to change the title? its gonna be misleading)

it wasn't a bad first month either - i mean we finished a couple under .500.. but after that it got bad.. everybody kept getting hurt (zimmerman, primary RBI man goes down for 4-5 weeks etc).. then Dukes was out for a couple weeks than Flores had a setback.. Olsen got hurt.. the injuries are kind of ridiculous. But we ended up like 20 games out at the all star break when i got fired..

the only major trade i made was nick johnson, willie harris, and prospect michael burgess for clay buccholz, michael bowden, and brad penny. i ended up releasing penny b/c was he was doing pretty bad and the rotation got too full once Olsen came off the DL, and that made us go under the budget, i guess that might be why? i shopped penny around but got no buyers..

i had other better job offerings once the season ended too, like AAA or AA manager, but no GM openings, and so i felt like taking the GCL Mets manager job since my favorite team in real life is the Mets.

im gonna get to working on the first month (a couple weeks of june, pretty short) with the GCL Mets, ill post stats a bit later.

SP Hector Castillo (age 22) - 44 K in 47.0 IP
SP Ryan Doolittle (age 22) - 36 K in 44.0 IP*
SP Michael Olmsted (age 23) - 33 K in 37.1 IP
SP Vince Perkins (age 28) - 23 K in 45.0 IP *

(* = Doolittle and Perkins were recently promoted to Brooklyn)

Bullpen Notes
- Reliever, LHP Mitchell Houck (age 23): 12 games, 1.50 ERA, 9.50 K/9
Houck has rebounded tremendously after a rough year in the GCL in 2009. The once middle reliever has earned himself the closer's job with the promotions of past closers Kato and Holdzkom. Houck, a lefty, has 19 strikeouts in 18 IP this year out of the bullpen, however has still had trouble with his control with 14 walks.

- Santiago Valdez (age 23) moved from bullpen to starting rotation.

Top Rated Prospect (potential) On Current GCL Mets Roster (as of 8/1/2010)
1B Jorge Vazquez (age 18) - 3.5 stars .. (Stock from beginning of season: UP)

Is OF Eric Gagne, a real person? If so, any relation to the pitcher, Eric Gagne?

haha I dont think he is real... according to his profile he was drafted in 2009 in the 7th round by the Mets (in the game, not real life). He is from Montreal, Quebec though.

He's hit .307/.367/.433 with 3 HR, 14 RBI in 37 games and is my starting RF'er

edit: in case people are unfamiliar with the GCL, its not a long season; all I have left is August and then (hopefully) the playoffs. I'll have the rest of it up by sometime today
