Exclamation Problem with E-license

Hi,

I was briefly part of the beta team and I had used the beta key for the beta version of ootp10. I have since un-installed the beta version and installed the purchased OOTPX version only to have it somehow still recognizing the beta license and not the one I received when I purchased OOTPX. It also still has a link to continue an old game which I have uninstalled. I have removed the folders in my docmuments and the actual install location on my hdd. But it still is not asking me for my e license nor do I find any hint of elicense on my computer to remove the beta key and add the purchased key.

Can someone help me out?

thanks,

Scott

Anyone else have this problem? I have bought the game and STILL cannot get it to install passsed the BETA. I have uninstalled and removed registry entries, remove the folder in my docs, and where the game default installs. Why is it still not asking me for my E-license? This is irritating... any help??

thanks,

Scott

Which OS?

Does the OOTP X portion of the Start Menu not include an unlicense option in there somewhere?

Is this causing you any particular harm, or do you just want to put the "right" license in there? Are you still able to play the game?

Nope there is no sign of E-license anywhere. It used to be located in the control panel or in the start menu items OOTP folder but not now. Somehow even tho I have uninstalled many times I am still hitting the BETA installation and license.

I even went as far as to install OOTPX in the default directories but it still has the BETA version 10.0.7 and I get all these Template:: errors. Uninstall doesnt get rid of it all.. I did a search for anything ootp and removed it all. Even Regedit keys, but still that pesky BETA pops up everytime I re-install. I even re-downloaded the public version of OOTPX just incase I had the BETA install files by mistake.

The only harm it causes is loading certain DBs at start...and it still has a Continue for an old BETA game (that has long since been deleted)... tho I can start new game if I wanted

I'd like to beable to cleanly install the public version and have it ask me for the license I purchased which it never has.

Make sense?

thanks Nutlaw!

Scott

In your Start Menu, you should have the path: OOTP Baseball 10 -> Tools -> Unlicense OOTP 10. Have you tried that?

Which operating system are you using, please? Vista? XP?

I'm not sure why a reinstall of the game to the same directory would have you using the old version of the game. It ought to overwrite everything. Can you navigate to your newly installed directory and run the ootp10.exe file there instead of using an old shortcut?

Using XP sp3.

Yeah when I open the ootp.exe in the game folder it just opens up the same thing. There is a unlicense.exe but its a dead shortcut and windows tries to find it...

this is sooo bizarre I have never had this issue before.

ok so this WILL not go away!! I have uninstalled, removed registry keys, done a complete search for anything OOTP and I still have the issue when I reinstall a fresh copy of the game. One thing I notice is in the start menu OOTP in the tools folder the unlicense link is dead... it goes nowhere.

Anyone have any ideas? I am close to re-installing windows... its such a POS.

Ok so I created a new profile on my laptop installed the game and it STILL picks up the BETA license!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have uninstalled the game SO many times and searched for anything OOTP related.. or elicense and I get nothing!! When I DO install the game and I go into tools the E-license icons are dead... they go nowhere.... I am close to re-installing windows just to place this game. there is some file or directory somewhere that the game catches when it is installed that I cannot find. I have used Your uninstaller, ccleaner, windows uninstaller to remove the game and registry keys but I STILL GET THE BETA INSTALL WHEN I RE-INSTALL THE PAID FOR RELEASED GAME. ITS NOT THE BETA INSTALL.

I realize this is not a fun one and no one really wants to tackle it but I am reaching out one last time for help. Could I please get someone to take a look at this? This Should not be happening... maybe this is my punishment for not having time to help beta the game.....

karma..

Thanks,

Scott

Alright, let's take care of this. Sorry it's taken me a while. Let's do this:

First, make sure you have backed up any OOTP 10 leagues or files you want to keep. Next:

1. Make a copy of your OOTP 10 shortcut.

2. Modify the properties of the new shortcut, and add the text "-unlicense" to the end of the Target. It should look something like this:

c:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\Out of the Park Baseball 10\ootp10.exe -unlicense

3. Double-click the new shortcut. It should take you through the process of unlicensing the game. If this doesn't work, stop here and let us know.

If that worked, next do this:

1. Uninstall the game.

2. Check in the following places for OOTP 10-related folders, and delete them: (these aren't all "normal," but they may have cropped up during beta)

- My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Out of the Park Baseball 10
- Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\Out of the Park Baseball 10
- Any custom locations where you might have installed the game

3. Restart your machine.

4. Download a fresh copy of the latest version of the game from here.

5. Install the game, and fire it up. It SHOULD ask you for a license, and you should be good from there!

Let me know how it goes!
