Any of you guys feel it's to easy just to trade your farm away and still have a strong dynasty in OOTP4? I have played 15 years with the Indians and I have traded my farm away each year to get "proven players" and I have made the playoffs all 15 years; winning the series 7 out of 8 times. I play with financials on and have yet to exceed 75 million dollars but I do trade and collect a lot of players in free agency. I know that the trade AI isn't perfect but I just want your guys thought on this...

It's not just you; when you get in a certain groove, OOTP's solo mode can become ridiculously easy. Try some house rules; we've been tossing around some ideas in this topic.

Or try doing what I have done, I simmed out the first 4 years. With the computer running all 30 teams, then I went and took the worst team in the league which was surprise surprise Tampa and now I am trying to build Tampa to repectibility. So far in two years have upped their fan support from 13 to 20, I am barely making any money and I have a salary of 29 million. Due to having poor teams I have been able to get some decent prospects in the draft and am trying to build the team that way as I never have any money for free agency.

That's what I'm doing with my favorite team, the Royals. I figured I'd prove in OOTP that I can do a better job than Allard Baird. Not like that's difficult though...

I'm following this same track with the Orioles. After a dismal 69-93 2002, my fan support dropped from about 60 to about 50. Early in 2002, I thought I was a great manager, because I had the O's at 23-23...then came the 18-42 stretch. Ow! However, a deadline day trade of Tom Glavine to the O's for Russ Davis (whom I had signed as a free agent) and some prospect signaled better things ahead.
Going into 2003, I had enough money to grab a couple of decent free agents and am seeing how I do going forward. I thought that I was cursed, as the O's started out 1-10 (wheee!). However, since then, the team is starting to gel, and now sits at 29-35. I don't expect to win anything in 2003, and I probably won't make a lot of money in 2003. However, I think I've built a good core going forward. I'm excited about seeing how long it takes me to turn them into a real contending team.
